Update Google Chrome immediately

Security vulnerabilities are a inevitable part of digital life. Google recently discovered 11 for Chrome, two of which were wild and active, and quickly released a fix. As such, you should update ASAP.

What’s wrong with these vulnerabilities in Google Chrome?

On Monday, September 13, Google posted a security update for Chrome which fixed 11 known issues, including two that the company identified as actively exploited zero-day vulnerabilities. This means that the bad actors took advantage of two of these security holes without the knowledge of Google or other affected entities.

Google claims that “anonymous researchers” are responsible for reporting these two critical bugs to the company. The reports, which were released until September 8, detailed that these vulnerabilities, named CVE-2021-30632 and CVE-2021-30633-are exploited via an out of range write in V8, and post free use in the indexed database API. The new update that corrects these issues is version 93.0.4577.82.

How to update Chrome to fix these vulnerabilities?

Chrome may automatically update for you in the background, so these fixes may already be installed. Otherwise, you might see an update button appear on your browser, in one of the following three colors:

• Green: An update was released less than 2 days ago.
• Orange: An update was released about 4 days ago.
• Red: An update was released at least a week ago.

At the time of this article’s publication, the update is recent enough that you can only see a green button. Downing the road, you might end up seeing one of the other two colors.

To update, click on the Following (the three vertical dots) in the menu bar. If there is’If an update is available, click “Update Google Chrome. “If you don’t see this option, Google says your browser is fully up to date. Go back to Following button, click To help, Then choose “About Google Chrome. “You will see your current version of Chrome, while the app checks for available updates. If one is available, you can follow the onscreen instructions to install it from here. the new version is 93.0.4577.82.

Google wasn’t the only one reporting security concerns: On the same day that Google announced this fix, Apple released a new update for all its current products. The company has revealed an active clickless iMessage bug that can infect a user’s iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, or Mac without the user needing to do anything.
