IDAHO FALLS – MPs say a local man who has been missing for several weeks has returned home and is safe.
The Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release Friday that Sterling Johnson, of Idaho Falls, had returned home from out of state.
“I was at a meeting at work, my missing son called,” Johnson’s mother said in a Facebook message Wednesday. “After talking to him and finding out where he was, we had the chance to take him home.”
Johnson took a bus home from Spokane, Washington.
He was last seen in Idaho Falls on October 30. Members were concerned for his well-being because the clothes he was wearing were not warm enough. He was then spotted in Butte, Montana.
“The Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office thanks everyone who provided advice and information regarding this matter,” BCSO spokesperson Sgt. Bryan Lovell said.

IDAHO FALLS – MPs are still searching for a missing Idaho Falls man last seen in Montana.
Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Bryan Lovell said in a statement that Sterling Johnson, 32, took a bus from Idaho Falls to Butte, MT on October 30. Authorities were concerned for Johnson’s welfare. Before this information surfaced, he was last seen in Idaho Falls with clothes that weren’t warm enough for the cold weather. He was only wearing gray sweatpants and a dark colored hoodie and he did not have the necessary medication for his health issues.
Lovell says someone spotted Johnson while on a Butte rescue mission. He had a denim coat and overalls in his possession and had bought a bus ticket. He apparently planned to travel to Portland, Oregon, but travel restrictions prevented him from using it. The last time anyone saw Johnson in Montana was on November 6.

Lovell said MPs were unsure whether Johnson was still in Montana, found another way to get to Oregon, or was returning to Idaho Falls.
“At this time, Mr Johnson’s whereabouts and well-being are still unknown and MPs have distributed his information to law enforcement in the region,” Lovell said. “Johnson suffers from medical and mental health issues that require medication and is believed to lack the resources to keep his treatment normal, putting him at serious medical risk.”

“We are worried sick and we miss him,” said Johnson’s mother-in-law Christine Johnson. “We just want to take him home and get some help.”
