PWInsider.com announced that the call to replace Shane McMahon had been launched by Vince McMahon earlier in the day. At one point, a match was organized to organize a royal battle on Smackdown Live, with the winner taking Elias's place in the tournament, but the call was finally made for Shane to take the place.
