Update: Steelers sign OG / C BJ Finney

The Pittsburgh Steelers are planning to sign center / guard BJ Finney, according to a tweet from Gerry Dulac of the Post-Gazette.

Dulac reports that the signing will become official once Finney passes a physical exam.

Finney signed as UDFA from the state of Kansas. He signed a two-year contract with the Seattle Seahawks last offseason. But he couldn’t get a starting job and was traded to the Cincinnati Bengals. The Bengals released him earlier in the week. Apparently his struggles for 2020 stemmed from a poor off-season training schedule that hadn’t prepared him for the start of camp.

With Pittsburgh, he made 13 starts, seeing the time in the center and guard.

Finney will be the first step to replace Maurkice Pouncey, who retired several weeks ago.

UPDATE (12:56 PM): It will be a one-year contract according to Adam Caplan.

UPDATE (2:33 p.m.): The Steelers have officially announced the signing.
