With the 2019-2020 ACC basketball calendar released, we are looking into the chances of winning the conference as it is today.
We are just under two months from the beginning of the university basketball season between 2019 and 2018 with the Tar Heels of North Carolina against Notre Dame in early November.
The opening match at home of the UNC will be opposed to an opponent of the Conference on the Atlantic coast, a unique match that is the product of the conference according to a schedule of 20 games. While the Tar Heels will unofficially announce their season later this month with "Late Night With Roy", it's never too early to talk about college basketball.
ACC released its new 20-game schedule Thursday night, with each team now having their full schedule for the coming season. But with this published calendar, has anything changed in terms of favorites?
After finishing tied with eventual national champion Virginia at the top of the ACC's regular season standings, the Tar Heels will participate in the 2019-20 with the third best chance of winning the line conference in Vegas . UNC is currently 9/2 odds with Duke at 5-2 and Virginia at 11/4:
The Tar Heels lost five of their top six scorers a year ago because of the NBA draft or graduation. They will seek to replenish their talents with a recruiting class including Cole Anthony, Anthony Harris and Armando Bacot. They will also add transfers of graduates Christian Keeling and Justin Pierce to help replace this production.
The Duke lost talented freshmen Zion Williamson, R.J. Barrett and Cam Reddish are welcome in the Top 5 hires. As for Virginia, the defending national champions lose Ty Jerome, Kyle Guy, De'Andre Hunter and Jack Salt. But they also welcome again Kihei Clark, Braxton Key and Mamadi Diakite, as well as the transfer of Sam Hauser.
These three teams should be in contention for the top all season, but do not be surprised if another team sits down to race.
