Nvidia has released its first new set of graphics drivers for 2021 and no, they don’t dramatically improve the performance of hot new games or worsen another old game with weird ray tracing. No, the 461.09 pilots are focusing on non-glamorous but important security fixes. However, if you want to see exactly how high your frame rate is in Windows Mail, these drivers have a disappointing twist for you.
Nvidia’s security bulletin lists the vulnerabilities fixed, 16 issues up to one rated 8.4 on the Common Vulnerability Scoring System. It reads me like a 7, wahey.
The new drivers also fix a few issues, including the FPS GeForce Experience counter displayed in Windows Calendar and Mail apps. Was it a bug? Mate, I’m not going to spend six million pounds on a 3090 if you don’t want to tell me how fast it displays FWD: FWD: FWD: emails from my aunt. The Calendar benchmark has been the foundation of my forum signature since 2006.
