Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Urban Meyer is said to be in danger of losing locker room support after a viral video posted over the weekend showed a woman dancing to him at an Ohio bar.
Michel Argent NFL Network reported Tuesday that the situation reached a “crisis point” after Meyer called off a team meeting Monday amid the backlash. One player reportedly said the coach was “too scared” to face the whole squad and instead apologized in meetings with the position groups.
“He doesn’t have any credibility at this stage,” a Jags player told Silver. “He had very little to start with.
Jaguars owner Shad Khan released a statement that Meyer’s conduct was “inexcusable” and noted that the coach should “regain” the team’s trust:

Jacksonville executives held two days of closed-door meetings on the status of the coach after the video was released, per Michel lombardi of the daily trainer.
Meyer was hired in January after a two-year hiatus from training. Previously, he spent over 30 years at the college level, including as a head coach in Bowling Green, Utah, Florida and the State of Ohio. He won three national championships, two with the Gators and one with the Buckeyes.
His arrival, with the Jags’ selection of quarterback Trevor Lawrence with the overall No. 1 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, raised hopes that the franchise was heading for a big turnaround after going 1-15 last year. . Instead, they’re 0-4 and now face the drama surrounding Meyer.
The 57-year-old Ohio native, married with three children, said in his Monday press conference that he did not travel with the team following Thursday’s loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. He stayed behind to spend time with his grandchildren.
He said the family went out to dinner when another group recognized him. They asked him to take pictures and urged him to join them on the dance floor. He admitted it was a bad decision to stay at the facility.

Benjamin allbright KOA Colorado reported that the Jags plan to keep Meyer “for now,” but they have discussed contingency plans if they need a replacement mid-season.
Jacksonville returns to action Sunday to welcome the Tennessee Titans to TIAA Bank Field. Next, the team are scheduled to travel to London to face the Miami Dolphins in Week 6.
The Jaguars have a pass in Week 7.
