The prosecution has unfolded in the international waters of the Pacific Ocean.
The coastguard repeatedly shouted "Stop the boat!" in Spanish. The semi-submersible vessel, built to prevent detection by radar and aircraft, was carrying 17,000 pounds of cocaine valued at about $ 232 million.
Between May and June, the US Coast Guard seized more than 39,000 pounds of cocaine in 14 drug shots.
