US judge sets bail of $ 50,000 for Mike Davis on child pornography charges | WBNS-10TV Columbus, Ohio

Columbus, Ohio – Meteorologist Mike Davis is silently held during his initial appearance in the Franklin County Municipal Court on Friday. He was standing in a prison suit, his hands clasped, looking at the floor.

Davis is charged with a charge of disseminating sexually-related material involving a minor – a second-degree crime.

But other charges could be coming. Several law enforcement sources told 10TV that the images found in the investigation number numbered thousands and dated back to previous years.

Davis, a long-time member of WBNS-TV's meteorological department, will not be allowed to leave Franklin County and will have to surrender his passport, a judge said Friday.

Attorney Terry Sherman pleaded for a bond, but the judge would not have done so – with $ 25,000 in cash and $ 25,000 in bail.

There is always some confusion and a mixture of opinions after talking to several other lawyers and ex-officios in court on Friday about what that means. All in all, most agree that it is a $ 50,000 bond, but it can be mailed in different ways, including paying only a fraction of that money to a slave.

Sherman said Davis is likely to come out of jail on Friday.

Davis was arrested Thursday at his home in Upper Arlington. The police searched for electronic equipment before going to WBNS-TV and seizing his personal laptop and four USB keys.

Police said Davis had sent and received images showing exploited children. When asked to characterize his behavior, Deputy Chief Rick Minerd of the Franklin County Sheriff's Office stated that he was cooperative.
