A US Navy contractor with “secret” security clearance and access to military ammunition has been arrested after allegedly encouraging other members of the pro-Trump mob to “come forward” during the US Capitol riot that took killed five people, federal officials said.
Timothy Louis Hale-Cusanelli of Colts Neck, New Jersey, has been charged with illegally entering the Capitol, disorderly conduct inside the building and obstructing a law enforcement officer.
He is a 30-year-old member of the U.S. Army Reserve who works as a contractor at the Earle Naval Weapons Base, according to court documents. He is also a white supremacist who has worked to broadcast his extremist views online, according to the documents.
According to authorities, Hale-Cusanelli told a confidential information with the Naval Criminal Investigative Service that he was at the deadly riot at the Capitol on January 6 and showed cell phone videos of himself entering the building.
He also showed informants videos of himself making “harassing and derogatory statements” to Capitol Hill police inside and outside the building, according to a criminal complaint.
The informant described Hale-Cusanelli as a “avowed white supremacist and Nazi sympathizer” who posted YouTube videos offering “extreme political views and views” on his channel called the Based Hermes Show as well as on other forums.

He also admitted to taking a flag and flag pole that he saw another rioter throw “like a javelin” at a Capitol Hill police officer, according to the complaint.
Hale-Cusanelli described the flag pole as a “murder weapon” and said his intention was to destroy or dispose of the flag as soon as he could.
