As things stand, there are long-term concerns. Democratic presidential candidates have more than once hinted that high tech companies might need a split, some asserting this point more forcefully than others. The division of responsibilities between the GM and the FTC could be important if the change of leadership in the US translates into tighter control of technology companies.
