President Donald Trump’s personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani was in Michigan yesterday, during a long and sometimes far-fetched election hearing hosted by the Michigan House Oversight Committee. He appeared to be pressuring the legislature to overturn the election result, where Joe Biden won the state by a margin of around 154,000.

“You are the final arbiter of whether or not your election is honest in your state,” Giuliani said at one point. “And it’s your responsibility to stand up to it. If we let them get away with it, I don’t know what will happen after that.

The four-hour hearing took place under very unusual circumstances, and Republican House Oversight Chairman Matt Hall even allowed Giuliani to question witnesses, a procedure that is usually the preserve of legislators themselves.

A witness who claimed to have worked as a contractor for the Dominion electoral system claimed to have witnessed electoral fraud. “I know for a fact that there was illegal activity there,” she said. An analysis from the Washington Post earlier this week showed that the majority of pivotal state counties that used machines from the Dominion voting system had in fact voted for Donald Trump.

Another witness complained about the lack of voter identification requirements, before asserting that “all Chinese are the same.”

“The other representative said that you can show up and vote without ID, it’s shocking. How can you allow this to happen. A lot of people think all Indians are the same, I think all Chinese people are the same, so how would you say that?

Michigan Democratic Senator Chris Hertel posted a Facebook post during the hearing saying, “This is the biggest hearing joke I’ve ever seen. Members of the House are limited in their questions but Giuliani can ask any questions he wants. It is a farce and a legislative embarrassment. “

Other witnesses included Jessy Jacob, who says she worked at the center for the election. She says she was told to “pre-date” the ballots and was kicked out when she informed other workers that someone’s signature did not match that of their license. “I was treated like a criminal,” Jacob said.

State Representative Darrin Camilleri questioned his credibility and reminded the hearing that a Wayne County judge questioned his story during a court hearing earlier this month.

Melissa Carone was also a witness. She said she saw election workers counting several ballots. “They were just rescan, rescan, rescan, count the ballots nine to ten times, count the votes nine to ten times,” Carone said.

“So they were counting the same ballot the same vote, nine or ten times?” Giuliani asked. “Yes, sir,” Carone replied. Giulaini asked Carone how many ballots she had seen counted several times, she replied “at least 30,000”.

This account has also already been delivered in court, where the judge found Carone’s allegations “simply not credible”.

Witnesses did not have to make their affidavits at the hearing.
