China flew 38 military jets on Friday in the Taiwan Air Defense Identification Zone, considered the biggest military provocation Beijing has ever seen.

Since the start of the year, China has continuously flown military jets in Taiwanese airspace as part of its increased efforts to strengthen its territorial claim on the island.
“China has engaged in military aggression without cause, undermining regional peace,” Taiwanese Prime Minister Su Tseng-chang said on Saturday.
“We have an ongoing interest in peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait. We will continue to help Taiwan maintain sufficient self-defense capability and we will uphold our commitments as set out in the three communiques, the Taiwan Relations Act and Six Assurances, ”Price said in the latest statement.
“The United States’ commitment to Taiwan is rock solid and contributes to the maintenance of peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait and the region,” he added. “We will continue to stand alongside our friends and allies to advance our prosperity, security and common values and deepen our ties with Taiwanese democracy,” he added.
Over the summer, the Group of Seven (G-7) countries called for maintaining the “status quo” in the region.
“We remain gravely concerned about the situation in the East and South China Seas and strongly oppose any unilateral attempt to change the status quo and increase tensions,” the G-7 said in a joint statement.
