1 dead and 4 wounded after firing at Pennsylvania courthouse

One person died and four others were injured after a shooting in a Pennsylvania court, authorities said.

Four people who were killed Wednesday afternoon by the Fayette County Court in Masontown, Pennsylvania, were taken to hospital, a spokesman for ABC News told ABC News. Fayette County Emergency Department.

One person was declared dead at the scene, the spokesman said. It is not known if the shooter was among those shot.

A law enforcement official was among the victims, Troop B of the Pennsylvania State Police, which runs Fayette County, wrote on Twitter.

More than a dozen policemen surrounded the building following the shooting, showed aerial footage taken by ABC Pittsburgh's affiliate. The entrance to the building was curled with yellow tape and the glass on the front door seemed to be broken.

You could see a hovering medical helicopter nearby, waiting to transport prospective patients to the hospital.

A witness told WTAE that a man had opened fire on a woman running in the street.
