ST. PETERSBURG, FL – A resident of Pinellas Park has died and a resident of St. Petersburg is in critical condition as a result of an accident in a wrong direction that has closed the Howard Frankland Bridge all morning.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, just before Friday, October 19 at 6 pm, a 2010 Chrysler was heading south in the north lanes of the Tampa Bridge and collided with a 2016 Ford van. The vehicles turned and hit a 2018 GMC SUV.
The driver of the Chrysler, a 46-year-old man from Pinellas Park, died on the scene and the driver of the van, 44-year-old Mark Joseph Beale, of St. Petersburg, was driven into critical condition at the time. Tampa General Hospital.
The name of the victim of the fatal accident is kept secret pending the notification of the next of kin.
Ozgur Akan, 40, from Alpharetta, Georgia, 40, was not injured.
