10 actors who could replace Chris Evans's Captain America (and 10 that we do not want)

[ad_1]

Chris Evans recently announced a very bad news to Marvel fans. He announced that at the end of Avengers 4, he finished playing Captain America in Marvel's Cinematic Universe. This is not a surprise, as Evans said he wanted to spend more time behind the camera, making his own movies than playing a lead role. However, at least some fans hoped that he could stay, even if Steve Rogers was playing in cameo roles. However, it seems that this will not happen and Marvel must now make a decision: will he recast Steve Rogers with a new actor, will Captain America disappear completely or will a different character take the torch? ?

When it comes to adding a new Captain America, the problem is that he is a hero because of his Super Soldier serum and that it is Steve Rogers' own. That said, there are already some heroes in the MCU who have portrayed Captain America in the comics and are more than ready to take over in the film if need be. There is also a pair of ladies who could eventually take over, perhaps with the help of Wakanda's technology.

That said, there are also some excellent actors who would slide perfectly into the role of Steve Rogers if Marvel came back on the scene – and a few others that would not fit perfectly to the greatest American hero.

here are the 10 actors who could replace Chris Evans's Captain America (and 10 that we do not want).

20 WANT: SEBASTIAN STAN

When it comes to who should or should not replace Chris Evans as Captain America, many arguments start and end with Sebastian Stan. After all, it's not the right time to start remodeling actors in the Marvel film universe – at least not for the main actors. There should not be a James Bond spin with Tony Stark or Steve Rogers when there are so many other characters to focus on.

That said, in the comics, Bucky Barnes took over the role of Captain America when he seemed to have died after the events of the American Civil War.

In the movies, this was teased in Winter Soldier and Civil war when Bucky put his hands on the shield. MCU should definitely give Cap the role of Stan. It would be interesting to see Winter Solder play Captain Amerca.

19 DO NOT WANT: WENTWORTH MILLER

Wentworth Miller has brought a lot of fun to the world of Flash with his portrait of Captain Cold. The villain turned hero Legends of tomorrow was perfectly described by the old Escape from the prison star. Captain Cold being no longer a star player in Arrowverse, Miller has much more free time, though he is still registered to return to the occasion for special appearances.

That said, many fans wanted Miller to take on the role of Steve Rogers in the Marvel film universe. However, it probably would not work. Although Miller was excellent as Captain Cold, he works best as an anti-hero with swagger and not as a stoic hero that Steve Rogers turned out to be during Chris Evans' tenure.

18 WANTS: JOHN KRASINSKI

John Krasinski did an interview during the promotion of his new series Amazon Prime Video Jack Ryan. In this document, he said that he felt that he would be better as a hero, like Ryan, as a superhero in many cases.

It is worth noting that Krasinski was originally for the role of Steve Rogers in the Marvel film universe, but he lost it to Chris Evans.

However, Krasinski had no problem losing the role since he knew Chris Evans would be perfect as Captain America. Looking at Krasinski and his roles in A silent place and Jack Ryan, it's easy to see him put himself in the shoes of a hero and become the new Steve Rogers. It's something that could work for both him and the MCU.

17 DO NOT WANT: LUKE EVANS

Luke Evans has had some opportunities to prove himself as a leader. He enjoyed his escape by describing Apollo in Clash of the Titans before playing a bigger god Immortals like Zeus. He also played a leading role in The three Musketeers before having the chance to start a world of shared universe like Vlad in Dracula Untold.

This movie has stopped the shared universe of Universal Monsters. However, it was neither the first nor the last time the monster world was able to take off. That said, Evans was awesome in his portrayal of compassionate future Dracula. The problem with Evans describing Captain America lies in his personality, which is frankly too dark and too British to assume the role of Steve Rogers in the MCU. However, Moon Knight is another matter.

16 WANT: DENZEL WASHINGTON

Many fans are eager to see a non-white actor embody the role of Steve Rogers. In fact, some fan castings have called Will Smith to take office. If Smith turned out to be a box office attraction, he's already a star of Suicide team and he just does not feel good for Steve Rogers' role. He makes a better insolent anti-hero in movies like Suicide team and Hancock.

Steve Rogers is not an anti-hero. It is the antithesis of an anti-hero – someone who is almost so good that it would be boring if he was not so friendly. For this reason, Denzel Washington is much more suited to the role of Steve Rogers. Denzel is 63, so it may not be likely, but if the MCU decided to shoot a film about the old man Steve Rogers from the comics, Washington could certainly succeed.

15 DO NOT WANT: CHANNING TATUM

Channing Tatum really wants to represent a superhero in a cartoon movie. He tried to get Gambit in production for years. However, with Disney's purchase of Fox and Gambit This is probably not the case now. That does not mean that it should be brought to the MCU, however. The last thing Marvel should do is hire Tatum to play Steve Rogers in the MCU.

Despite the fact that they initially considered it, Tatum just does not fit the role.

As the G.I. Joe movie franchise has shown, Tatum can play a soldier and he is much better than an actor that some will give him. However, he is also a little too distant to represent the timeless man who is Steve Rogers. It has the look and build, but it can be a little too much for the actor to bring out the personality of Rogers.

14 WANTS: GARRETT HEDLUND

Garrett Hedlund was one of the actors taken into account by Marvel Cinematic Universe when creating the role of Steve Rogers. In the past, he had the chance to shoot a big-budget science fiction movie with Tron the inheritance and proved his actor chops Four brothers. However, he did not have enough at the time and so Chris Evans was chosen at that time.

That said, Hedlund has really started to show his role as an actor with movies like Muddy and Uninterrupted. He also has the charisma to intervene and keep the character strong if he were to win the battle for Steve Rogers. Captain America would be a little more daring, but if they re-cast the role, changing character is not a bad thing.

13 DO NOT WANT: BRENTON THWAITES

Brenton Thwaites is on the wish list of some fans for the role of Steve Rogers. However, the problem here is that he seems almost too young to play Captain America. Yes, Stever Rogers was frozen in time for many years and he was not so old when he fell, but he must always be someone who can take on the role of veteran hardened.

That said, Thwaites has probably ruined all his chances of playing the role of Steve Rogers in the role of Dick Grayson in the DC streaming universe. Titans. Grayson is a person who has always been perceived as a more positive and optimistic sidekick for Batman. However, DC decided to make it dark and violent on the TV show, which would be hard to shake if Thwaites wanted to play the virtuous Captain America in the MCU.

12 WANTS: EMILY VANCAMP

Although it seems unlikely, the MCU is still in danger of trading Captain America's sex after Steve Rogers leaves and bringing us a woman, Captain America.

If we ever saw a Captain America woman on the big screen, Emily Vancamp's Sharon Carter would not have the best choice.

She is the grand niece of Rogers' former flame, Peggy Carter, and was the S.H.I.E.L.D. officer originally charged with watching over Steve Rogers. Sharon then joined Steve Rogers during the Civil war history and proved that she could always be invoked. With the recent success of Wonder Woman and Brie Larson taking the role of the titular hero in the next Captain MarvelPerhaps it's time to bring a woman, Captain America, to the big screen.

11 DO NOT WANT: ALEXANDER SKARSGÅRD

Interestingly, Alexander Skarsgård was originally on Thor's shortlist of roles in the Marvel film universe. He did not get the role, although his father, Stellan Skarsgård, was recognized as one of Thor's fellow landlords. Now that Chris Hemsworth seems to have more opportunities to play the god of thunder, would young Skarsgård have room to join the MCU in a different role?

Skarsgård proved that he could be heroic because of his role as a main character in Tarzan in 2016. He also showed a rougher side in the HBO vampire series True blood. However, although Skarsgård is almost sure to play a superhero role in the future, he does not really fit Steve Rogers' character.

ten WANT: STEPHEN AMELL

Stephen Amell has really shone as DC Comics superhero, Arrow on The CW. It was Amell and Arrow who set the bar for the the Flash, Super Girl, Legends of tomorrow, and Black Lightning, proving that these heroes deserved a platform to tell their stories. Along the way, Amell showed that he was dedicated to being a superhero – and he did it with style.

Amell accept to leave DC when Arrow finally finish his race? If he does, there might be a place for him in the MCU. Amell could easily change things and play the role of Steve Rogers, although he may need to learn some new facial expressions than the ones he uses in Arrow, as Steve Rogers does not usually look so intense.

9 I DO NOT WANT: JENSEN ACKLES

Jensen Ackles spent more than a decade on television playing the hard and hard Dean Winchester on Supernatural. Unfortunately, when it comes to putting his talent on the big screen, things did not go so well, his biggest success being the disappointing horror remake. My bloody 3d valentine. However, this does not mean that Ackles has no superhero experience. In fact, he expressed Jason Todd in the DC animation movie Batman: under the red hood. Ackles also has the appearance of a hero.

However, his background on Supernatural makes him more apt to play the role of a villain or a harsh anti-hero, and not the Captain America guy we see in the MCU.

Although Chris Evans has been able to move from Johnny Storm to Steve Rogers, Ackles has not yet proven that he has the same lineup.

8 WANT: RYAN PHILLIPPE

Ryan Phillippe was on the shortlist for the role of Captain America at first. As he has a lot of experience, he could have brought a lot to the role. He lost the chance to Chris Evans. After that, he decided to reinvent his career with the American TV series Shooter.

The problem with Phillippe is perhaps that his previous roles are a little risky, but who can forget the scene of Chris Evans' whipped cream from Not another teen movie? This means that Phillippe's previous roles should not be a problem. If Phillippe had not been originally chosen for the role of Steve Rogers, it was because he had never proved that he was a bank star. However, now that Captain America is a household name, it would be a good time for an actor without so much box office success to enter the role.

7 DO NOT WANT: SAM WORTHINGTON

Hollywood has long wanted to make Sam Worthington a star. If you look at his list of credits, you'll find that a lot of projects never seemed to come to fruition, mainly because Worthington was not able to achieve the goal of winning crowds and criticism.

Worthington was the leader Terminator: Salvation, but it only lasted for one film. He had two shots at Clash of the Titans Restarts but the special effects have won the day there. In Avatar, he was just an actor in the 3D world of James Cameron – and he was not even the most memorable character of the movie. Regarding Captain America, Chris Evans immediately adapted the role and made his character. However, Worthington may not be able to do that yet.

6 WANT: COLTON HAYNES

Some Arrowverse players could easily play the role of Steve Rogers, but Colton Haynes could be one of the best choices. Listed on more than one fantastic cast list for the role of Captain America, Haynes played the role of Red Arrow on Arrow and was great as an anti-hero teammate vis-à-vis Stephen Amell's Arrow.

At age 30, Haynes is young enough to take on this role for an extended period.

It also has the look and jaw of Captain America that we see in comics. It has been in big budget action movies like San Andreas and he made his own TV show Teen Wolf. He could have what it takes to be successful in the MCU.

5 DO NOT WANT: HAYLEY ATWELL

Marvel Comics Helped Fans Love Peggy Carter with Short-Term TV Show ABC Agent Carter, in which the secondary character of Captain America: the first avenger took spies, gender policy, and Howard Stark. She did it with a style and panache that most heroes of the MCU unit would like to have. Then, in the movies, Steve Rogers saw her again before her death.

That said, some fan theories have hinted that Peggy Carter could get into the current Marvel Cinematic universe through time travel, which could happen with the Infinity Stones or the Microverse in which Ant-Man was successful. However, if there is ever a Captain America woman, it should be Peggy's niece Sharon. Although we would like to see Hayley Atwell return to the MCU, the wonderful agent Carter should finally have the opportunity to rest.

4 WANT: MAT BOMER

Many fans have wanted to see Matt Bomer appear on the big screen as a superhero. There was fan casting imagining Bomer in roles of both Batman and Superman. In fact, Bomer said that when he was 23, he was ready to play the role of Superman when Brett Ratner was working on the film. Bomer stated that he had been chosen to play Man of Steel before the end of the film.

If there is a character from the Marvel Universe who agrees well with DC Comics Big Blue Boy Scout, that is Steve Rogers. If Bomer has another chance to play a superhero, it should be as Captain America. However, Bomer is joining DC Comics Doom Patrol series, so this may be unlikely. However, his fans can dream.

3 DO NOT WANT: KELLAN LUTZ

Kellen Lutz was someone who looked like a rising star. After his role of escort support in the dusk franchise, many thought that it was the next big thing. As a result of this, he had two major opportunities in fantastic movies. He appeared in Immortals and then played the lead role in the legend of Hercules. As he showed in this latest movie, he is fantastic in action scenes.

However, he struggled with the charisma that was needed to achieve a franchise.

As he has shown in other movies like The Expendables 3he is the guy to call when a great action hero is needed. However, it may not be the type to call when you want someone to be the moral compass that drives all others to action. Paste it in Suicide team or another action movie and it is sure to be great. However, he should be away from Captain America for the moment.

2 WANT: Anthony MACKIE

Marvel Comics had two Captain America at one point, with Steve Rogers in his civilian identity as Special Operations Agent and Sam Wilson gave up his Falcon role to adopt a new winged version of Captain America. The two men then came into conflict with each other throughout the comics because they were separate sides of social problems.

Some fans have wondered if the MCU could try the same thing, but without Steve Rogers. After seeing Anthony Mackie play the role of Falcon, many fans are eager to see him assume the role of Captain America. Although more and more fans want Winter Soldier to take the role of Captain America, what would happen if Anthony Mackie's Falcon also played a role similar to that of his character in the comics and clashed with Bucky's Cape? This could create a very interesting scenario for the upcoming Captain America movie.

1 DO NOT WANT: MATTHEW MCCONAUGHEY

Marvel and DC Comics both wanted to invite Matthew McConaughey to play in their films. McConaughey said the two companies sent him scripts to read and discuss roles. However, none of these meetings came. Despite this, McConaughey has always mentioned that he would be interested and willing to join the MCU or the DCEU if the role was right.

Is Marvel suspending a prominent character like Steve Rogers enough to bring McConaughey into the fold? Some fans have expressed the wish to see him play the role of Captain America even before Chris Evans takes the role. However, McConaughey may not be the best person to take on this responsibility. Although it would probably make a big bad guy, let's keep it away from Captain America.

What do you think? Are there other actors who should (or should not) take over? Captain Americathe shield? Sound off in the comments!
