10 reasons to look, including the potential spoiler in New York

The UFC are in New York on Saturday for UFC 230, and although the clash between two-division champion Daniel Cornier and Derrick Lewis has been hastily assembled, that does not mean it's not a high stakes game.

Cormier, who holds both the heavyweight and light heavyweight belts, has the rest of his career well-planned, but if he loses his heavyweight crown to Lewis, these plans could change. A Lewis win could also have a training effect on the 205-pound division.

Although the fight for the heavyweight title attracted the most attention, it would be a mistake to overlook the other four competitions in the pay-per-view portion of this card. Each of these fights is a middleweight showdown, meaning there could be serious moves in the 185-pound division by the end of the competition. These fights include the battle between former champion Chris Weidman and former king Strikeforce, Ronaldo Souza.

The UFC 230 will take place Saturday at Madison Square Garden. The main card is broadcast a la carte after the preliminary matches of FS1 and UFC Fight Pass.

1. The ability to play the spoiler

At UFC 230, Lewis could disrupt two divisions. A cynic might say that the UFC took a calculated risk in registering this fight and assumed that Cormier would continue his run of 14 undefeated battles in the heavyweight division. And you know what, the odds are very favorable, Cormier is ranked among the favorites of -850 compared to Lewis, which has an outsider of +550.

That's not to say that Lewis can not play spoiler. After all, he has won 10 of his 21 career playoff wins, but he has a lot of work to do. Cormier is not only one of the best fighters of all time, but only one man has ever defeated him, and this man, Jon Jones, is considered by many to be the best fighter in history MMA.
