Jets head coach Todd Bowles wants to do something absolutely clear: he did not take any defensive play by calling coordinator Kacy Rodgers.
Bowles was adamant about this at his Wednesday press conference when he removed the details from a previous report.
"One hundred percent false, completely a lie," said Bowles. "If anyone said it, it did not come out of my mouth, I have no idea where it came from, so I have nothing else to say there. I did not do anything, I do not know where it came from, it did not happen.
"I'm pretty much an elite shooter – if I have something to say, I'll say it would come out of my mouth, it never came out of my mouth, it never happened." End of the discussion It never happened, it will not happen If I want to play the call or call something on the offensive, I have this prerogative to do it as a head coach, I've never done anything. So, to be quite clear, Rodgers' role in the team remains unchanged?
"He's doing what he's done," Bowles said.
The report that Bowles vehemently denied stated that he had regained his authority in two-minute drilling situations. This is an area in which the Jets have had difficulties so far this season. they gave up points just before half-time in all three games.
But Bowles does not put a lot of stock in these problems. He blamed the Browns' late-game goal late in the first period on penalties, which prevented the Jets from taking their place on the pitch after being stopped. He also stated that "communication has gone well" in these situations.
