JBS USA, the country's largest beef processor, recalls nearly 100,000 pounds of ground beef for possible E. coli contamination, according to the Department of Agriculture.
Ground beef, produced October 24 at Swift Beef Co., a US company owned by JBS, located in Hyrum, Utah, may be contaminated with E. coli O157: H7, according to the inspection and safety department (FSIS) Foods from the USDA.
No confirmed case of adverse effect related to the consumption of the products has been reported, the agency said.
The E. coli strain can cause dehydration, bloody diarrhea and abdominal cramps two to eight days after exposure. It can also cause kidney failure in children under 5 and older adults. Symptoms include bruising, paleness, and decreased urine production. People with these symptoms should immediately see a doctor, said the USDA.

The 99,260 pounds of ground beef were wrapped in 2,000-pound pallets and wrapped in 8 to 10-pound plastic labeled "Blue Ribbon Beef":
• 81/19 (81% lean) ground beef with product code 42410.
• Ground beef 93/07 (93% lean) with product code 42413.
• 85/15 Ground Beef (ground to 85% lean) with product code 42415.
• Ground beef 73/27 (73% lean product) with product code 42510.
Ground beef has been shipped to retailers for further processing and to food service distributors for institutional use in California, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington.
JBS USA began its recall after the Majestic Meat Company of Salt Lake City recalled Thursday about 530 pounds of ground beef provided by JBS USA, announced the USDA.
This is just the last reminder involving JBS USA. In October, JBS recalled more than 6.5 million pounds of processed raw beef products at its Tolleson, Arizona, treatment facility for potential Salmonella Newport contamination. The USDA discovered that as many as 57 people from 16 states were sick between August 5 and September 6 as part of the incident investigation.
In May, JBS USA recalled 35,464 pounds of raw ground beef processed at its facility in Lenoir, North Carolina, to eventually be contaminated with hard plastic pieces.
