DENVER – Firefighters will continue to fight Mother Nature while they work to contain several forest fires that burned this week in Colorado.

Several new fires broke out last week in hot, dry conditions.

The spring fire in Costilla County, which began on Wednesday, destroyed 104 homes and is now the largest fire in the state. Firefighters said Monday night that the fire, which burns between La Veta and Fort Garland, is over 56,800 acres. It is now contained at 10%
