SYRACUSE, N.Y. – According to the Syracuse police, an 18-year-old man was arrested Sunday morning in the morning to stab and kill a 19-year-old in Syracuse.

Keenan L. Davis, 18, of 134 Center Street in Cleveland, NY, was arrested Tuesday night for stabbing Christopher Hickey, 19, at 1104 N. State St., announced police. He faces charges of manslaughter and possession of fourth-degree weapons, police said.

"The difference between this investigation and any investigation into an open homicide is cooperation between witnesses," said Chief of Police Frank Fowler. "If we get the cooperation of witnesses … we can do a lot with a little bit – it's just a matter of bringing in people."

Fowler stated that they had proceeded with the arrest by questioning witnesses, probing the neighborhood and collecting material evidence.

Wynonna Hill, a neighbor, woke up to argue around 12:50, she said. She heard screams and went outside, where she saw the consequences of the knife attack, she said.

Hill said he heard a woman tell how the police were stabbed. She said that a woman and her boyfriend were arguing when the woman threw her boyfriend's phone on the floor. During a fight, an entrance door window was broken and shards of glass spilled onto the floor. Hill said the victim, later identified as Hickey, was trying to protect his sister from his boyfriend when he was stabbed.

The boyfriend was choking on his girlfriend, Hill said.

"When they were shouting at each other, they would say to themselves," Why would you want to smother him? "Hill said at Syracuse.com. "He said:" I do not care about anything. "She threw out my phone.

Police said that at one point in the fight, Davis had stabbed Hickey to his torso with a knife.

In an interview with Syracuse.com | Prior to the announcement of Davis' arrest, Post-Standard announced that his mother, Bobbijo Delamater, had been questioned by the police.

"He's not running," Delamater said of his son. "But he will not come for anything that he has not done."

Police arrested Davis in Cleveland, New York, in Oswego County at 5 pm, but he has close ties to Syracuse, Fowler said.

"He has a long and rich history here," said Fowler.

When the officers searched for Davis, they did not find him where they had originally sought, Fowler said.

Delamater stated that her son had a lawyer whom she did not want to identify. The mother and son had been the target of Hickey's family publications on Facebook, claiming that Davis had stabbed Hickey and that Davis's family were hosting a family member.

"I do not know what happened, that everyone sits down and calls my son a murderer …", she said before the police announced Arrest Davis. "Until the truth is revealed, everyone must take care of their business."

Davis is being held at the Onondaga County Justice Center and is expected to be brought to trial Wednesday morning.
