Two people were killed when a former World War II fighter plane crashed into the parking lot of an apartment complex in Fredericksburg, Texas on Saturday, said a spokesman. of the state police.

Texas Public Security Department, Sgt. Orlando Moreno said the two people were on board the plane. He did not identify the dead.

Fredericksburg is home to the National Museum of the Pacific War. The museum said on Twitter that one of the plane's passengers killed was a veteran. It was not clear right away whether people killed or if the plane was associated with the museum, which has a collection of equipment and souvenirs from the Second World War.

The National Transportation Safety Board and the FAA have announced that they will investigate the site, located about 113 km north of San Antonio.
