The Prince George County Police Department tweeted just after 11 pm that two of their officers were shot dead in the 2700 block of Lorring Drive.
WASHINGTON – Two agents from Prince George County and Maryland were shot dead Wednesday night while executing a search warrant for a drug unit.
Police said the two policemen had been flown to a trauma center in Baltimore and that they were in stable condition with life-threatening injuries.
The Prince George County Police Department tweeted just after 23 hours. that two of their officers were shot down in the 2700 block of Lorring Drive. Lorring Drive is less than half a mile from Penn Mar Shopping Center.

Jennifer Donelan, director of media relations for the Prince George County Police Department, said at a news conference Thursday before 1 pm: "I have to tell you that the relief we're feeling right now is really hard to describe. "
One of the police officers is in serious condition, said Donelan, "but, again, we could talk about a completely different situation, depending on what they encountered when they have entered this apartment. So we are very, very, very relieved tonight that our two officers are alive.
At approximately 10:30 pm, the Special Operations Unit executed a search warrant at block 2700 in Lorring Drive on behalf of the Narcotics Division, Donelan said.
Donelan said the team consisted of nine people, including a tactical nurse. The team of nine people came forward after hitting, but after receiving no response from residents, they entered the apartment with a "mechanical device," she said.
Once the door opened, an armed individual inside the residence fired at the team, Donelan said. One officer was shot in the hand and the other was shot in the "shoulder area".
An officer, designated by Donelan as the "point-man", squatted under the other members of the team and fired a shot at the suspect, which "did not take effect".
The tactical doctor immediately assisted the two injured officers when the other officers entered the residence. The suspect surrendered and was arrested, Donelan said.
Another individual was in the residence, which, according to Donelan, was a witness to the violence encountered by the police, but in part. This person was also detained.
Donelan also thanked the County Fire and the Prince George EMS for arriving at the scene and transporting the injured officers to a nearby school, where the Maryland State Police was able to land to take the police to Baltimore Shock Trauma.
One of the injured police had already spoken with Prince George County police, Donelan said. Discussions are underway to find out if the second officer will need surgery.
Donelan said that more information on the identities of officers will be revealed later.
