The Hermosa neighborhood fell silent early Sunday, in the aftermath of an overnight shooting during a fight killed a two-year-old boy.

Identified as Julien Gonzalez by the Cook County Medical Examiner, the young boy lived in the Southwest Side Clearing neighborhood, in the 5500 block of West 63rd Place. He was on the sidewalk with an 18-year-old man just after 10:15 pm. Saturday, the 22nd block of North Kilbourn Avenue, police said.

A fight between Kilbourn and Kenneth Avenue from a party inside a house on Kilbourn, said Sgt. Al Stinites, police spokesman.

Someone in the crowd, hitting the 18-year-old in the neck, Stinites said. Two females had been fighting in the alley when the shots were fired, police said.

The 18-year-old was taken to Illinois Masonic, where he was treated and released. The child was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he died about 20 minutes before midnight. The teen also did not live in the neighborhood, a source said.

The man was not affiliated, but some people at the party were Maniac Latin Disciples, according to a source font. In the alley, members of the YLO, or Young Latino Organization, Disciples, reportedly got involved, and one of them started shooting at 9mm pistol that had a laser sight, the source said.

Font found 10 shell casings. North of the alley where the shooting took place, the yellow police tape closed Belden Avenue between the two streets.

A small group gathered outside Stroger, standing outside the emergency room and sitting on the sidewalk with their backs against the building's wall.

Area North detectives were investigating, but had no one in custody.
