A week after the 13-year-old Jayme Closs was kidnapped at her home in Wisconsin, Wisconsin, the authorities are asking 2,000 volunteers to help her look for evidence.
Volunteers must be able to walk on rough terrain, the Barron County Sheriff's Department said Monday.
This follows a first search by 100 volunteers Thursday. It is not clear if any evidence has been found in this research.
The mysterious case began in the early hours of October 15 when Jayme's parents, Denise and James Closs, were shot dead in their homes, officials said.
The police responded to the house after a strange 911 call in which no one spoke. A dispatcher, however, might hear screaming, according to the records.
According to the authorities, Jayme was apparently at home at the time of the murders, but he had been abducted by the time the police arrived a few minutes after the 911 call.
"Jayme is still missing and has been added to the FBI's missing persons list, and is currently on digital billboards nationwide," the sheriff's department said Sunday in a statement.
In the week following his disappearance, more than 1200 tips were submitted, announced the sheriff's office.
