The 28th IFP Gotham Awards opened the awards season Monday night in New York.
Rachel Weisz, Willem Dafoe, Paul Greengrass and Jon Kamen all received 2018 tributes, and Sandra Lee received the "Made in NY" award.
The annual festival of the Independent Filmmaker Project is the first awards ceremony on the Oscars route, and the Gotham Awards have gained importance in recent years by rewarding the films that have won the Oscars from "Birdman" to "Spotlight" to "Moonlight" and "Get Out".
