SALT LAKE CITY – After a night of unprecedented voter turnout, a tight congressional race and high stakes voting in Utah, important question marks remain.
But, this should be expected.
All counties finished reporting on the results shortly before the 1:00 am election night. In about the same time, Governor Spencer Cox tweeted a reminder:
"Do not forget that nothing is final before the web in 2 weeks," reads in his tweet.
Counting and checking votes takes time.
"We can not speed up the process a bit," Cox told KSL Newsradio's "Dave and Dujanovic" on Wednesday morning.
In addition, many people came forward to vote yesterday, with the participation rate hovering just around the figures of the presidential year, tweeted Cox Wednesday.
Voters in Utah reported waiting hours in some areas Tuesday. For example, in Utah County, where residents attended their first vote by mail, voters lined up all night. Cox told "Dave and Dujanovic" that on Tuesday, the state should know enough to call the race.
