The exchange deadline is open for races. We apparently have our first big contract of the 2018 deadline, as the Houston Texans are finalizing an agreement to acquire Demaryius Thomas from the Denver Broncos, according to a report by Ian Rapoport of the NFL.
The Texans saw No. 2 catcher Will Fuller tear up his access checklist when the team won the Miami Dolphins last Thursday. They do not have much depth behind catcher DeAndre Hopkins. Rookie rookie Keke Coutee is still struggling with a new hamstring injury that has led him to miss the first three games of the season.
Acquiring Thomas gives Deshaun Watson another weapon on the outside, although Thomas is obviously no longer at the top of his powers. Formerly one of the few best football receivers in the world, Thomas's production has slowed down a bit in recent seasons. In his first eight games, he had 36 assists for 402 yards and three touchdowns.

Part of this reduced production is due to the struggles of Keenum's box and a chemistry up and down between the quarterback and the player, so it's possible that he's bouncing back quickly if he forms a better bond with Watson. He should have plenty of opportunities to see the ball in the Houston offensive, which tends to channel targets between two or three players.
Thomas is currently in the fourth season of a $ 70 million contract over five years. He retains the proportionate portion of his base salary of $ 8.5 million this season plus $ 14 million base salary next season. The Texans may, however, withdraw from the deal with a minimum cap effect at the end of the 2018 season.
In Denver, rookie Courtland Sutton is likely to play a bigger role alongside Emmanuel Sanders. Sutton has played well lately and will obviously play a decisive role in the future projects of the team.
