The LSU is tied for 140th place among national universities, according to the university rankings released Monday by US News & World Report.

Tulane University, which is a private school, is the highest ranked Louisiana College or University on list # 44.

LSU is the only state public school in the forefront of the report.

In a statement, the LSU president, F. King Alexander, downplayed the ratings. "Although we are pleased to be recognized as the only public university in Louisiana ranked first, entry-based rankings, such as American news, are becoming more and more obsolete," said Alexander.

LSU is ranked 5th in the Southeast Conference and 90th among peer schools, according to the Washington Monthly 2018 College Guide and Ranking.

The school on Friday issued a press release that again cited these two reports.

The Monthly Washington 2018 College Guide and Rankings places LSU in the top half of the Southeast Conference, 90th among the public universities and 30th among the country's flagship universities.

Forbes says that the school is the 59th among the country's public universities and the fifth among SEC public schools.

LSU officials noted that in the United States information report, the school ranked 70th among public universities and 35th among leading institutions.

They said that the LSU had jumped 15 places from last year, ranking 87th, and that its students, according to the survey, are among those with the least college debt at the end of the year. their studies.
