2019 Presidency: What Yoruba leaders told Obasanjo about Buhari before he forgave Atiku – Adebanjo

Afenifere leader, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, explained the role played by Yoruba leaders in the reconciliation between former President Olusegun Obasanjo and former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

Adebanjo was among the notable Nigerians who accompanied Atiku to Thursday's reconciliation meeting.

According to Adebanjo, the supreme socio-cultural group Yoruba had already visited Obasanjo as a prelude to reconciliation.

Adebanjo told Sun that Yoruba leaders, during their visit to Obasanjo, had convinced the former military leader that all those who opposed the return of President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019 had to forget their personal differences and s & rsquo; To unite against his reelection.

"We explained to him that if we are all serious in the fight against Buhari's tyranny and bad governance, those of us who oppose him must forget their personal differences and unite to get rid of he (Buhari), otherwise we risk being reproached.

"The fight against Buhari is not a personal war; it's a fight in the interest of the nation. All the qualities attributed to Buhari are false. Does he really have integrity or is he a collaborator of the corruption that he claims to fight?

"The Maina and SGF business took place under his responsibility. Even one who was taken to the Ministry of Health and who was fired, Buhari reinstated him. Can he defend his actions in these cases?

"So, if we really want to end his reign, common sense tells us to get rid of it. If we are not united, Buhari will come back. That's what we told him, "said Adebanjo.

Adebanjo then explained that the reconciliation negotiated between the former president and his deputy was a sign of unity and progress for the country.

"This indicates that Nigeria is ready to dismiss tyranny. Men of good will are united to get rid of the autocracy we are experiencing now. Whatever our personal differences, opposition to this regime should not be divided.

"If we are divided, He will overcome us and deal with all of us. Common sense means that, whatever our personal differences, we must forget about it and unite to get rid of this government. The return of Buhari will plunge this country further. All his claims over the past three years are false, he has only deceived us and we have seen the net results after three years.

"Atiku is the best candidate available at the moment. Atiku may not necessarily be the best candidate to be the next president of Nigeria, but he is the best candidate available to fight the outgoing president. And since we are convinced that it is the truth, all hands must be on the bridge to support it in the elimination of this bad regime.

"What we are passionate about is the restructuring of Nigeria, a real federalism. By the time Nigeria is restructured, all the differences, all the areas of conflict that we are going through as a nation will disappear, it's just the base, "he said.
