Police on Wednesday arrested a neighbor of an advertising director who was found dead the throat cut in the building of his cooperative Upper West Side last week.

Anya Johnston, 24, was charged with killing Susan Trott, 70, in her apartment on West End Avenue near 95th Street on October 21st. cops.

Police reacted to Trott's home early that day when his business partner called the authorities because he had not heard her for several days.

The police followed a trail of blood on Trott's floor to the bedroom, where they found his body, officials said.

"I am happy to announce that the murder of Susan Trott has been stopped," NYPD detective chief Dermot Shea wrote Wednesday afternoon.

One day after Trott's murder, Shea told a news conference that the police had a person of interest in the murder who was being held in a hospital for a psychological assessment. He added that all the responses to the assassination would be inside the tower located at 710 West End Ave.

Police believe that Trott and Johnston had already had problems with each other, but the nature of these fights is unclear, police sources told The Post.

Trott's friends and neighbors told The Post that she was constantly being harassed in the building for a variety of reasons, including having the habit of feeding the birds on the sidewalks on the outside.
