26-year-old man killed in shark attack planned to offer

Arthur Medici had the intention of proposing to his girlfriend before his life was tragically interrupted by a deadly shark attack over the weekend.

The 26-year-old from Revere, Mass., Recently had custom rings made in his native Brazil for his girlfriend, Emily Rocha, his friend (and Emily's sister), Isaac Rocha, said The Boston Globe. He planned to propose on a beach, according to Isaac.

Medici died Saturday afternoon after being attacked by a shark while boarding Cape Cod. Isaac told WCVB that he was a few feet away from his friend when he heard the cries of Medici and rushed to save him.

Isaac said that death was particularly difficult for his sister, Emily. The Facebook page of Medici indicates that they were in a relationship since December 2016.

"They were thinking about marriage and all that. It's horrible, "he told WCVB. "We love him so much, he wanted to say the word to us. It always means the world for us.

Family and friends have set up a GoFundMe page to cover transportation costs and funeral expenses. On the page, the Medici family described his girlfriend as "a smart and generous medical student with a bright future."

Medici was an engineering student at Bunker Hill Community College. About four years ago he moved with his aunt and uncle to Revere, World – his parents live in Brazil.
