Three people died, including a woman and her 10-year-old son, and two other people, including another child, were seriously injured after a domestic violence-related suicide murder in Silver Spring, Maryland. The police released the names of deceased adults, including the man who, according to them, opened fire on his family.
SILVER SPRING, Md. – A woman and her 10-year-old son died, another child and a young woman were injured and the boy's father returned his gun in the early hours of Monday in the Colesville area of Silver Spring, Maryland, said the police.
Just past midnight, officers received a 911 call from a house on Amberleigh Drive, just off New Hampshire Avenue.
"They went into the house and found five people apparently suffering gunshot wounds," said police captain Paul Starks.
Later on Monday, police said Sang Yeon Kim, 48, died at the scene. His son, Andy Kim, 10, died later in a hospital.
A 22-year-old woman and another child were taken to the hospital in what the police call a critical condition.
Yong Mun Kim, 57, also died on the scene. Police said the investigators thought he shot four members of his family and then himself. He was the father of the children and the young woman was the daughter of Sang Yeong Kim, probably from a previous relationship, the police said.
"We think all the violence has been contained in the house and we are not looking for a suspect," Starks said.
