3 dead and 7 injured Sunday in Chicago, end of a bloody weekend

Three people were fatally injured by gunfire and seven others injured Sunday in a violent new conclusion on a weekend in Chicago, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.

Police said the shootings began Sunday after midnight when a 19-year-old woman and a 26-year-old man were shot dead in a car parked in the west end of Austin, in the city. The unidentified woman was shot in the head and the man was hit repeatedly.

At approximately 1:45 pm, in the Roseland neighborhood of Chicago's south end, a 32-year-old man was shot in the leg. He was taken to the hospital where his condition stabilized. Minutes later, a 23-year-old man was shot in the northwestern sector. He was also taken to a hospital where his condition stabilized.

In the afternoon, a 26-year-old man on the south side of the city was shot in the leg by a gunman. Police said that he had been transferred to a medical center in serious condition.

Later Sunday afternoon, a 37-year-old man was shot in his car and two others were injured nearby. The first man, 34, was beaten on the buttocks and transferred to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. The other man, 32, was shot in the leg and taken to the hospital. His condition would have stabilized.

Later in the evening, two men, aged 20 and 27, were arrested in the middle of a fight and injured. Police said their injuries were not life threatening.

The ABC-7 of Chicago reported that seven people had been fatally wounded by bullet and 15 others injured since 17h. Friday. According to the Sun-Times, Chicago residents have been the victims of more than 400 homicides and more than 2,000 injured by gun-related violence in 2018 alone.
