3 seriously injured infants, 2 injured adults stabbing at Queens Birth Center

QUEENS, New York –

A woman faces charges after authorities said they stabbed three babies and two adults in a birthhouse in a Queens building on Friday morning.

Yu Fen Wang, 52, is charged with five attempted murders.

A 13-day-old girl and a 33-day-old girl were both injured on the wrist, while a 22-day-old girl had cuts on her chin, ears, and lips.

The victims were found inside the center just after 15:30. According to the authorities, Mei Xin Care Incorporated does not have a license.

Infants were taken to local hospitals in critical but stable condition.

A 63-year-old female worker was also repeatedly stabbed to the torso, and police said that a 31-year-old father of one of the babies heard her screaming, intervening and being stabbed to the legs.

The victim is in surgery for his injuries in New York-Presbyterian / Queens.

"We pray that all victims will be well and survive these injuries," said Queens District Attorney Richard Brown. "We hope that these young, small and very fragile babies will also be strong enough to overcome this horrible act of senseless violence."

The suspect was found unconscious in the basement with sores on his wrist that he had inflicted himself. Police said she was working at the center.
She is in custody in New York-Presbyterian / Queens, where she is also being treated for serious injuries. A reason has not been determined.

Police recovered a butcher knife and a meat cleaver on the scene.
