30 injured when the ground collapses at the university party

Dozens of people were injured early Sunday when a floor collapsed at a party in a building near Clemson University in South Carolina.

Thirty people were taken to three wounded hospitals in the area, police said.

The collapse occurred on the first floor of a building located at Woodlands of Clemson, a neighborhood just minutes from campus, shortly before 12:30 pm. The center floor of a clubhouse was collapsed in the basement, police said.

The clubhouse had been rented for a private party. Videos shot on the scene showed a big party with people jumping and dancing when the ground gave way under their feet.

"By the time I put a foot out, I felt that something was strange and it was at that moment that everyone collapsed and that the guy behind me has disappeared, "said Raven Guerra, 20, at" GMA ". "Everyone was on the floor and people were screaming and there was wood coming out of the floor."

Guerra added, "Turning around and seeing a group of people who were on the second floor in the basement was really surreal and people were crying – it was a lot to take."

Everyone was able to be removed from the building and no one was trapped, according to officials.

None of the injuries seemed to be life threatening, the Clemson Police Department said.

Clemson University celebrated its reunion this weekend and had won a crucial college football game against fellow countryman ranked 41-7, his ranked opponent on Saturday afternoon.

School officials learned of the incident early Sunday morning and dispatched student affairs representatives to hospitals where wounded students were transported.

"We continue to collect information and are encouraged by the initial information that no fatal injury would be fatal," said the university in a statement, adding that counseling and psychological counseling services were available to all. students.

Police said that an investigation into the incident was underway.
