SportsPulse: Trysta Krick overreacts to the madness of the second week of the NFL. Chaos, the Jaguars dominate the genius of Patrick Mahomes.
USA TODAY Sports
The 32 things we learned from the second week of the 2018 NFL season:
1. PSA Annually: Since the playoffs extended to 12 in 1990, teams starting 0-2 have a 12.1% chance of reaching the playoffs. If you're a fan of Bills, Texans, Raiders, Cardinals or Lions, you're forgiven if you start planning a getaway in January.
3. (And, Chiefs fans, you'd do well to put up the decibels to support your defense … which was burned over 1,000 yards in the first two weeks.)
4. Way-too-early-MVP-runner-up-uh-runner-runner: Ryan Fitzpatrick. With four other TD connections himself on Sunday, he joined Mahomes and Drew Bledsoe (1997) as the only smugglers to have started a season with at least four TD strikes in his team's first two games. For the moment, at least, Fitzpatrick has recovered the league 's best quarterback title thanks to the man he overcame on Sunday, Nick Foles.
5. And with Tampa Bay (2-0) surprisingly at the top of the NFC South after the saints and Eagles upset, the gravestone is now in production: "RIP's Mandate Jameis Winston as QB's Beginning Bucs (2015-2017) ). "
6. Conor McGregor Ryan Fitzpatrick> Civil War General Ryan Fitzpatrick.
7. With a 75-yard pass from Fitzpatrick in the first scrimmage game, Bucs WR DeSean Jackson earned his 23rd career score of at least 60 meters, linking Jerry Rice for the most part.
8. Way-To-Soon-Candidate Back From the Year: Ryan Tannehill. The quarter of the Dolphins had actually lasted longer than Andrew Luck before coming back this season. After an effective two-day day against the Jets, Tannehill had a surprising 2-0 start in Miami and exclusive possession of AFC East's top spot.
9. GOAT masks too early to be worn: J-E-T-S fans who wore their Sam Darnold jerseys.
ten. Maybe-too-early-to-give-Hall-of-Fame-jacket to … Frank Gore? Or maybe not. He overtook Curtis Martin on Sunday to become the fourth-best scorer in NFL history (14,112 yards) and is now 1,158 yards ahead of Barry Sanders for third place. Gore has no rings, no pressing title and no wink at all pro's, but his case is getting stronger with every story.
11. Just-in-time-to-give-Hall-of-Fame-jacket to … Adam Vinatieri. He became the second player in league history to reach 2,500 points and only needed 44 points to surpass Morten Andersen as a scorer of all time.
12.The NFL Foundation has contributed $ 1 million to Hurricane Florence's relief efforts in the Carolinas. The league is the favorite skeptic of many skeptics – reasonably in some areas – but should receive credit for this kind of contributions.
13. Congratulations to Frank Reich and Mike Vrabel for winning the first victories in 2018 for first year coaches (who are still collectively 2-10 at this stage).
14. Kevin Byard, who threw a 66-yard pass to Dane Cruikshank after a false kick, became the first left-hander to throw a touchdown … since Dez Bryant in 2016. Most goals scored by Byard by a defenseman at # 39th time of the Super Bowl.
15. RB Derrick Henry also completed an 8-yard pass for the Titans, who did not start quarterback Marcus Mariota. Cruikshank – he is a BTW defender – was Tennessee's main receiver on Sunday.
16. Mental collapse of the week: Deshaun Watson. With his Texans alone following the 20-17 Titans with 17 seconds to go, Watson needed only a moderate recovery in second and tenth place to put Houston tied for a field goal attempt . Instead, he danced and climbed around the pocket looking for a receiver and used the entire pendulum while completing a 31-yard pass at DeAndre Hopkins. Oops.
17. In terms of average annual production over six seasons, Josh Gordon has provided less than 30 catches and a touchdown of more than 500 yards in Cleveland – most of these numbers have been grouped into his 100% pro campaign. Congratulations to the Browns for their loyalty to Gordon, while trying to guide him in his personal fights.

18. Another metric supporting the dominance of the Southeast Conference? The schools with the most alums on the NFL lists at the start of the season were Alabama (44), LSU (40) and Florida (37).
19. Look who is alone in first place in the AFC North – the Bengals, who have won their two games 34-23. It hurts to lose offensive midfielder Joe Mixon for the next few weeks (knee surgery), but Cincinnati seems to be the most balanced club in the division.
20. I hope you have Saints WR Michael Thomas in the fantastic leagues of PPR. His 28 receptions through two games are an NFL record … and allow him to take 224 balls.
21. At least Hard blows the cameras are gone. The last two kicks of Zane Gonzalez Sunday were largely left on a PAT and right on a 52-yard try with three seconds left to give the Browns their first win since 2016. Between these capricious boots, Wil Lutz realized 44 yards to give New Orleans a 21-18 victory. But perhaps Gonzalez's day was not as bad as that of Vikings rookie Daniel Carlson, who started his career in Aguayo-esque after being selected in the fifth round this spring. Carlson missed his three field goal attempts on Sunday, including attempts at 49 and 35 yards in overtime from Minnesota's 29-29 draw at Green Bay.
22. Memo to the Browns, Vikings and the rest of the NFL: DAN BAILEY IS STILL A FREE AGENT. (Bailey's 88.2% conversion rate on field goals is second best in league history after Justin Tucker (90.3%)).
23. Not really fun: this season is the first since 1973, when the NFL had two draws after two weeks. Overtime was added in 1974.
24. Even if the Packers did not win and Aaron Rodgers did not have a particularly memorable match, fighting for the draw with Minnesota could well be worth the risk incurred by Green Bay by launching his injured star once broken. broken in December.

25. Bizarre stat of the week: Raise your hand if you predicted that Matt Ryan would run for two TDs and that Cam Newton would have none in the Carolina-Atlanta match?
26. An independant Indianapolis defense might have found a star in LB Darius Leonard. He took stock of rookie honors this week after racking up 18 tackles, a sack and a forced fumble in the Colts' loss to Washington.
27. Taysom Hill, New Orleans, remains the most versatile quarterback in the league. Known for his willingness to play special teams (he made four tackles last season), Hill returned Sunday with 47 yards. His number was also called to launch a gadget in attack – Drew Brees was split in two – but the Browns stopped him with a timeout.
28. The enigmatic CB Vontae Davis has retired at halftime from Buffalo's defeat against the Chargers. Given how the Bills season is taking shape, we can not blame Davis too much … Buffalo needed 93 minutes and 54 seconds to score his first touchdown of the season.
29. He is battling with Minnesota's Laquon Treadwell, Mike Williams of the Bolts, Calvin Ridley of Atlanta and Carolina's DJ Moore. All are receivers of the first round and scored their first career victory Sunday.
30. This sharp cry emanating from the Southwest Desert is Josh Rosen's alarm. It's time to confirm that he may well be the most pro-loan passer of his elated draft class. (FWIW, Arizona had first five tries in a 34-0 loss to the Rams.)
31. Hey, @BortlesFactsBlake Bortles is the only quarterback to beat Tom Brady in 2018. The only. He is also the first quarterback of the Jags to oust Brady (previously 8-0 against Jacksonville).
32. Hey, @BortlesFactsBlake Bortles launched four TD passes to four different receivers, the first time in five seasons in the NFL. But certainly not the last.
