The 32 things we learned in Week 7 of the 2018 NFL season:
1. On the milestones front, Drew Brees became the fourth player to make 500 career TD assists, joining Peyton Manning, Brett Favre and Tom Brady. The Ravens' defeat by the Saints allowed Brees to join Favre and Manning as the only quarterbacks to defeat the 32 NFL teams.
Justin Tucker of Baltimore missed the first point of his career after converting 222 in a row. His miss, 24 seconds from the end, proved fatal to the defeat of his team 24-23.
One can only imagine that Joe Flacco, of Brees and Baltimore, worries after the match after seeing their backup copies, Taysom Hill and Lamar Jackson, respectively, combine for nine reports while using packages that minimize old players. Jackson scored the first TD of his career on a run of one meter. Hill contributed 35 rushing yards, but his misplaced game ruined the opening mark of New Orleans play, which lasted nearly 10 minutes but did not score points thanks to the fumbling of Hill. Better policy? Keep Brees there.
The Rams' candidacy for a perfect season has continued with style. Dressed in their all-yellow uniforms, Color Rush, LA rose to 7-0 by beating the 49ers, dressed in 1994 in reverse, 39-10.
Todd Gurley scored three touchdowns, scoring 14 points and a record 32 points. Hall of Famer LaDainian Tomlinson set the record for one season (31) in 2006. Rams' Aaron Donald clearly passed another of his slow starts. After failing to register a bag in the first three games, Donald – he had four Sunday against San Francisco – has had eight in his last four games. Donald had a bag in his first four games in 2017 before throwing it to win the defensive player of the year.
The NFL continues to serve football bonuses. The Browns-Bucs game marked the seventh consecutive week. At least one game in overtime allowed a new record to start a season. Cleveland have already made extra four times – the all-time record in a season since 2011 – meaning the Browns have played an extra game in 2018.
7. Jameis Winston, Myles Garrett and Baker Mayfield have been selected by three of the last four picks from the last four draws in the repechage. Although he did not pass a TD pass, Winston – he ran to score a goal – scored his first win of the year … corresponding to the total of his 11 previous starts.
DE Carl Nassib was helping Winston – you probably remember him as one of the Browns' "Hard Knocks" bosses before he was sent away unceremoniously – who recovered his first two bags as a Buccaneer, including one from Mayfield in overtime ending Cleveland final possession.
Tampa Bay K Chandler Catanzaro scored a goal of 59 yards, the longest of the season in overtime in the NFL, scoring the 13th NFL game to be won in the final game. It remains to be seen how Catanzaro's talent for the dramatic game serves him, knowing that he missed a PAT and a 40-yard placement in the final game of regulation. (Roberto Aguayo … always available.)
ten. Under the leadership of new coordinator Mark Duffner, the Bucs limited the Browns to 305 yards after failing to keep their previous opponents under 400. Sorry, Mike Smith … "a results-based company" as they say.
The Arizona Cardinals' worst offense in the league has not won more than 268 yards in a game this season. Sorry, Mike McCoy … "results-based business," as they say.
One day without TE Rob Robs Gronkowski (back injury), the Patriots benefited from two special teams in the league – a kickoff from Cordarrelle Patterson and the return of a Kyle Van Noy right kick – when they have survived the Bears.
Chicago's Mitchell Trubisky covered an incredible 71.9 yards in his 8-yard run in the first quarter – according to next-generation statistics from the NFL, it was the longest distance traveled with a race that has won less than 50 yards this season and the most covered by a quarterback in 2018. Unfortunately for Trubisky, he missed his late goal, Hail Mary, captured by WR Kevin. White … who was tackled on the 1-yard line while New England won 38-31.
# TB1K update: Brady, uh, exploded 6 meters during his only run on Sunday. Brady, who averaged 1.7 yards per race in 19 career starts, took a huge reach his goal of reaching 1,000 career yards. He is now at 989.
The Titans made their first trip to London on Sunday, marking their first appearance in an NFL International Series game. The Packers, Panthers and Eagles have not played in a regular season game abroad. Philadelphia will face Jacksonville at Wembley Stadium next weekend.
After four years of career with 41 assists in the red zone, Tennessee quarterback Marcus Mariota was eliminated for the first time on Sunday.
The Titans lost to the Chargers 20-19 after failing to convert what would have been a winning two-point conversion with 31 seconds to play. Tennessee actually had two breaches after a penalty from L.A., but neither of Mariota's two passes was connected. According to ESPN Stats & Info, the Titans now have a score of 0 to 7 on two-point attempts – all assists – coming back to Mariota's rookie season (2015). Sooo … Would not a decisive two-point try be the right time to remove RB Derrick Henry's cloak of invisibility? Just say.
Much of the story that led to the Vikings' 37- to-13 defeat of the Jets was how much the New York brass was thrilled to meet rookie Sam Darnold at the quarterback instead of paying Kirk Cousins. At least $ 30 million a year. The JETS could be better in the long run, but Cousins (241 yards, 2 TDs) was clearly the best player on Sunday when Darnold finished with four turnovers, while he was surrounded by a much lower support cast .
Adam Thielen of Minnesota WR tied Charley Hennigan (1961 Houston Oilers) over 100 yards for seven straight games to start the season. If Thielen reoffends in Week 8, he will draw a draw against Calvin Johnson.
Rookie Kerryon Johnson rushed for 158 yards in Miami's Detroit victory, becoming the first Lions player to play several 100-yard rushing matches in the same season since Reggie Bush in 2013. Detroit, the worst race team in the world. the NFL in 2015 and 2017, exploded for 248 yards, the largest number of Lions since 1997 (when Barry Sanders was still playing).
MLB Luke Kuechly played 14 tackles on Sunday, four of which were marked by negative passes for the Eagles.
Carolina's first five races ended in setbacks as Philadelphia took a 17-0 lead in the fourth quarter. But the next three Panthers' records all ended in touchdowns, their comeback was a 21-17 victory.
A ten-gallon hat for the Texans, who have now defeated a 0-3 start to win four straight wins. The loss of Jacksonville on Sunday gave Houston exclusive possession of first place in the AFC South Division.
The Texans (4-3) also won first place in Texas after the Cowboys, who lost to Houston in the fifth week, dropped to 3-4. Dallas have alternated wins and losses in their last 10 games – average set – and are undefeated at home in 2018 but no win on the road.
The misguided little cowboys Sunday: the long snapper L. P. Ladouceur. His penalty for a 5 – yard false start was too much for K Brett Maher 's margin of error. Maher's attempt to score 52 yards to tie the game in Washington surprised the left post in the final game.
The unsung hero of the Redskins: Tress Way. He dropped five of six shots in the 20-yard Dallas line.
One of the biggest disappointments this season? Jags CB Jalen Ramsey, a shell of himself on and off the field among the three defeats of his team.
Hey, @BortlesFacts, your boy had his first game without INT since the third week! Unfortunately, he fumbled twice and was placed without fame for Cody Kessler. Doug Marrone, Jacksonville coach, said, "He should be furious" … as you surely are, @BortlesFacts.
But good news @BortlesFactsYour boy's next match will be in London. Blake Bortles is 21-43 in America, but 3-1 in the UK.
"Dear mother -" … Andrew Luck became the third quarterback of the Colts with 150 career passes, joining Manning (399) and Johnny Unitas (287).
More: We see Andrew Luck 2.0, and he's smarter than ever
31. Even better, "Dear mother -" The odds, which started week 7 with most NFL pass attempts (288), needed his handgun only 23 times during the season when the 37-5 demolition at Indianapolis Buffalo Men's Bison Men.
One last news, "Dear mother -" … The weapon of luck has now been paying off in 30 consecutive games, the longest active sequence in the league.
