BLACK LIGHTNING
(The second season returns on Tuesday, October 9 at 9 pm on The CW)
The big news: Jordan Calloway was promoted to regular season two.
You must know: Last season, Jennifer Pierce's (China Anne McClain) boyfriend Khalil Payne (Calloway) debuted at the top. The high school athlete heading to the Olympics found his dreams broken when a ball meant for Black Lightning (Cress Williams) cut his spine. Looking at life in a wheelchair, he desperately made a deal with the devil, Tobias Whale (Marvin "Krondon" Jones III) and received cybernetic enhancements that turned him into Painkiller. The new metahuman, super strong and capable of generating anesthesia from his body that causes temporary paralysis when delivered by darts, is now Tobias' personal weapon. Fans can expect to see much more, in the action and emotional scenarios with Jennifer, of Painkiller in Season Two with news Saturday that Calloway has been raised to the regular series.
Other highlights of the panel: on what is coming in season two were left wanting more at the Comic-Con Panel of Black Lightning . The 45-minute conversation focused on the first season and what the series means for on-screen performance, inclusion and diversity. Even the reel of sizzle played at the beginning of the panel was filled only with the highlights of season 1.
But executive producer Salim Akil gave Jones the opportunity to tease a cliffhanger that was outstanding the season last. What's in the box? This glowing suitcase of the season 1 finale will return in season 2 and Tobias Whale has some damaging plans involving. "I would like to say that it's the future of Freeland," Jones says. "I would like to think."
SUPERGIRL
(Season 4 returns on Sunday, October 14 at 8 pm on The CW)
The big news: Supergirl crosses even more borders in season four presenting the first transgender super-hero of TV
What you should know: The CW superhero series announced to Comic-Con that transgender activist Nicole Maines would join the season four as the first super-transgender. Maines ( Royal Pains, The Trans List ) will play the regular role of the Nia Nal series, aka Dreamer, and she joins the group's stage casting midway. The latest addition to the CatCo reporting team that worked under Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart) in Washington, D.C., Nia is portrayed as a transgender young woman moved with a fierce desire to protect others. His journey during this season means fulfilling his destiny as a super-dreamer as Kara takes her under his wing. Not only is it a big step for inclusion on the screen, but it's also a win for the trans community while Supergirl goes even further in increasing her representation by launching a trans actress to play the role of trans. controversy surrounding other projects that have made cis actors trans characters. "It seems normal that we have a trans superhero for trans kids," says Maines.
Other noteworthy highlights of the panel: Two other casting additions were announced during the panel. April Parker Jones ( Jericho, the last ship ) joins the show in the regular role of Colonel Haley's series, an uncompromising military career. Colonel Haley lives and dies under the orders of his commanders. Dedicated to her country, she always acts in her best interest – even if it is not her own. David Ajala ( Dr. Who, Nightflyers, The Dark Knight ) will also join the cast of season four as the recurring role of Manchester Black, based on the iconic character of DC Comics. Described as the type of guy who brings a knife to an exchange of gunfire and still leaves the winner, Manchester Black has a dark past but easily deflects the brutality of his mission with his charm and sense of humor. Maines, Jones and Ajala join the regulars in the series, Jesse Rath, who plays Brainiac-5 from Legion of Super Heroes and Sam Witwer Smallville who will play Agent Liberty [19659014]. from Witwer's villain while he's voiced a sinister voice-over in a preview of season two. The Liberty agent will take the lead of an anti-extraterrestrial movement that goes directly against the symbol of hope Kara (Melissa Benoist). And was it a new costume for Supergirl? A flash of a woman wearing a bright "S" on her chest with a futuristic helmet covering her face seemed epic and heroic, but as her face was hidden, it is unclear if it was really Kara or someone. On one side, like his nasty doppelganger seen in the very last scene of the finale.
As for the new regular Rath series, he's already making a name for himself as a klepto resident on the set. When a fan asked if Alex (Chyler Leigh) would receive a Legion ring so that she could fly with his sister, Rath pulled one of his fingers to give Leigh some seats. Benoist was shocked, and asked if he stole the prop department. He did indeed. "This ring is worth more than this show," he jokes.
ARROW
(Season 7 returns on Monday, October 15 at 8 pm on The CW)
The Big News: Now that Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) has publicly confessed to being the Green Arrow, he will face old enemies locked with him behind bars as new teammate The Longbow Hunters wreak havoc and revenge for Oliver for slamming Ricardo "Dragon" Diaz (Kirk Acevedo).
What you need to know: Back to Arrow this season are familiar faces that Oliver has put in jail in previous seasons: Ben Turner / Bronze Tiger (Michael Jai White), Derek Sampson (Cody Rhodes) and Danny "Brick" Brickwell (Vinnie Jones). All three are locked in the maximum security prison of Slabside, aka Oliver's new home. As for The Longbow Hunters, already mentioned by Diaz in season 6, the iconic group of assassins takes form on the screen in the form of three new characters: Red Dart, ruthless and precise killer, played by Holly Elissa (Whistler ), beast of a Kodiak force man played by Michael Jonsson (Van Helsing) and stealth master Silencer played by Miranda Edwards (The Wizards, Orphan Black).
Other highlights of the panel: In his first panel Comic-Con as the new showrunner of Arrow Beth Schwartz went on stage with Amell, David Ramsey, Emily Bett Rickard, Rick Gonzalez, Echo Kellum, Juliana Harkavy and returns regularly with Colton Haynes. The cast praised Schwartz by bringing his own flavor to the series with Haynes promising that it's one of the most exciting moments in the series having a woman at the helm. And for this upcoming Batwoman crossover later this year, Schwartz teases, "We're super excited but we're working on the first half of the season, so the crossover is not something yet [we’re at]."
In a moving moment that goes back to last year's Comic-Con panel, Amell found Sara, the little girl battling cancer that he had given to his necklace a year ago with the promise of returning it in a year. She was the first to ask a question at the microphone halfway through the panel this year, which kept her promise, and Amell swapped her collar for the only thing that he ever stole: the first bow of # 39; Oliver. The entire ballroom applauded, many fans even stood up as Amell came out of the scene to give Sara the bow and whisper a message to her ear
LEGENDS OF TOMORROW
(Season four returns on Monday, October 22 at 9 pm on The CW)
The big news: Two new characters join Legends of Tomorrow for season four.
What you need to know: With the introduction of magical creatures into the season four finale, the Waverider gets something from an expert in magic next season. In addition to John Constantine (Matt Ryan) joining the Legends team, Ramona Young ( Blockers, Santa Clarita Diet ) joins the cast in the regular role of the Alaska Yu series. Described as a twentieth kind typical, easily swept away by romantic notions and fantastic novels, she's like a traveling encyclopedia for the kind of monsters the Legends will face this season after opening a door to the time prison that once kept Mallus locked up. In the company of legends, Alaska quickly learns to get out of the clouds and become a superhero. In addition, Tom Wilson ( The Informant, Back to the Future ) will return to Nate's father (Nick Zano), Hank Heywood. With a life in the army and the Department of Defense, Hank is part of a long line of Heywoods to serve the country. Charming and charismatic, he left great shoes to fill Nate – and it does not help that Nate can not tell him that he's secretly a legend.
Other notable highlights: A unicorn, a decapitated dragon head, Constantine, Sara (Caity Lotz) and Ava (Jes McCallan) naked in bed seem extremely happy together, Legends of Tomorrow season four goes full on zany, magical and romantic notes this year. And executive producer Phil Klemmer promises that Sara and Ava's relationship is improving more and more. As their relationship becomes deeper and more meaningful, this will allow Legends of Tomorrow to further expand the world of Time Office through Ava's work life which is the way Alaska will be introduced.
Richardson-Sellers is still a regular series despite the release of his character Amaya last season, the actor revealed on the panel that she will play a totally new character, Charlie, this season. Charlie is one of the "magic fugitives who slip" through the door that legends have opened in the time prison. Described as "an uninspired rebel, a trickster on his own mission," Charlie "shakes" the dynamics on the Waverider as the Legends try to figure out if she's a friend or an enemy.
The former The Flash and the Legends of Tomorrow from the Keiynan Lonsdale series return to Waverider this year? Unfortunately no, according to Klemmer. But executive producer Keto Shimizu promises, "There's always next season!"
And a surprise appearance halfway through the panel was a life-size Beebo, dressed entirely in a blue fur suit. After hugging all the actors on stage, the costumed character pulled his head to reveal Adam Tsekhman, aka Gary of the Time Bureau. Ballroom 20 then burst into songs of "Gary! Gary! Gary!" for an epic welcome to the favorite actor of the fans.
THE FLASH
(Season 5 returns on Tuesday, October 9 at 8 pm on The CW)
The big news: Season 5 is revealed, and c & Is not another speedster!
What You Need to Know: The veteran actor Chris Klein ( American Pie, Oz ) joins The Flash as the main villain of season five, DC Comics, character of Cicada. A gray-haired, blue-collar handyman whose family has been torn apart by metahumans, Cicada is now looking to exterminate the epidemic – one metahuman at a time. While Cicada in comics is a cult leader, executive producer Todd Helbing explains that they take a few liberties and put the iconic character through the lens of Flash. "He's not really a leader of the cult, but his powers are a challenge for Team Flash that they've never dealt with before," Helbing said. The other villains coming this season are "younger" versions of The Rogues, according to Helbing. And the showrunner is hoping to make a team between King Shark and Gorilla Grodd in the second half of Season Five … but only if they have enough money in the budget to do all of CGI 's work. It's something that he's been trying to do for years, but that's never had enough money.
Before the start of the roundtable, a sizzle reel played for Ballroom 20 with new footage from Season Five, including some answers on Nora West-Allen (Jessica Parker Kennedy). Her nickname of superhero in the future (given by her father!) Is XS, and she hides something from Barry (Grant Gustin) and Iris (Candice Patton) at first. And while Lonsdale does not return to Legends of Tomorrow this season, he is shown in The Flash Season 5 trailer, fully adapted as Kid Flash and next to The Flash. But the greatest joy came when Barry got a new costume upgrade: his ring of Flash comics. Also expect to see a new superhero, the one who promises Helbing is "the most influenced by comic books".
But fans should start getting ready now. Helbing warns: "There will be a lot of deaths this year." Maybe even a main character or two.
And now that Patton and Kennedy both had to learn to play a speedster, they both complain about Gustin's "slide" Flash. Fans gathered for the sign began shouting at Gustin to show him on stage, so he took off his shoes and tried to do it in his socks. "It's cooler in the flash suit," he says after sitting down. [19459037] Then @grantgust just removed his shoes to show his [slide] #TheFlash I understood everything on video. "It's cooler in the Flash suit!" Said Grant. # SDCC18 pic.twitter.com/S3tC1gh07R
