The spoilers for Marvel Spider-Man end-of-game and end-of-game sequences are included in the article below.

The Spider-Man of Marvel seems to be embarking on an original story of the Green Goblins with several teasers towards the end of the game evoking the future of Mayor Norman Osborn.

Towards the end of the game – again, it will spoil the end-game sequences for players who have not yet reached them – players must control Mary Jane Watson again by entering Osborn's penthouse to find the Dragon's antiserum biological weapon that Dr. Octopus unleashed on the city. Using a mechanism similar to Spider-Man's Spider Senses, players can locate items of interest throughout the apartment. One of the first prototypes of the complete MKIceAndFire solution above is a shielded mask that has no place among Osborn's other valuables.

"Patterns for a prototype combat mask," she says, resuming the shots of the helmet. "It looks like it can reveal structural weaknesses."

Although the mask may look like the one worn by the Sable agents when they see how they work for Osborn, they are only engaged by Osborn and do not use his equipment. It also bears the official name "Oscorp Industries" to show that, just like the dragon breath, Osborn and his employees create themselves.

Putting on the mask reveals the clearest signs that it is a first version of the green goblin mask. At the top of the HUD mask seen at 11:26:23 in the video, there is a series of numbers that appear to indicate which prototype version this headset is. Before these numbers, there are two letters: "GG", perhaps the most direct reference to the green goblin. In the upper left corner of the HUD, there is also an image of what appears to be the sharp glider that the green goblin uses with the text "Glider Tech Sync" beside and a percentage indicating the progress of the synchronization of the helmet with the glider.

Adding to Green Goblin teasers, grenades are also found on the table when exploring the apartment, a weapon of choice of the green goblin. The players also pointed out that the project plans indicate "AS 14", a reference to the first appearance of Green Goblin in Amazing Spider-Man comic books. There is even a mention of the glider evoked in the HUD helmet when players encounter Oscorp inventions, one of which indicates that it is a medical drone used to evacuate people, as one player recalled.

While all the pieces are there for the origin of the green goblins, the final scene of the final credits establishes a motive explaining how the villain might be. With interrupted progress to heal Osborn's son, Harry, we see a split moment between the two where Harry seems to be affected by an entity resembling a Venom. Osborn promises to continue doing all that is needed to save Harry from his illness, a cliffhanger that leaves the door wide open to the green goblin in the aftermath of the clearly stated end.

The Spider-Man of Marvel is now available for PlayStation 4.
