The fifth season to come will be the last in the Amazon series.

The Amazon series will end with a musical feature that will be shot later this year for its debut next fall, said designer Jill Soloway The New York Times.
"This idea of saving music our family was at the rendezvous," said Soloway at the press briefing. "Then we are like, let's continue to blow on the flame, the Pfeffermans will continue to live, and that's what allowed us to continue."

Soloway, who identifies as non-binary and prefers to be referred with the plural pronoun in the third person "they", worked with her sister Faith Soloway and the transgender performer Shakina Nayfack on the music of the 39; episode.
While the Time reported that the final will last two hours, sources said. The Hollywood journalist that the duration of the episode has not been defined. No other details were immediately available.
The show made headlines earlier this year after the announcement of sexual harassment complaints against its star Jeffrey Tambor. Following an internal investigation by the distribution and streaming giant, the actor was fired from the series.
Soloway announced the news to The Hollywood journalist in a May cover story, the fifth season would be the last for the award-winning Emmy show.
"Let's hope this prepares the Pfeffermans with some sort of beautiful recovery," they said at the time. "I think we'll get there with a little bit of time."
The news of Tambor's dismissal was announced just days after NBC Entertainment President Jennifer Salke hired executive executive Roy Price earlier this year to head Amazon Studios after that charges of sexual harassment were brought against him.
In June, Salke said THR that the series did not intend to recast the character of Tambor, the transgender matriarch Maura Pfefferman.
"Jill has a good idea of how [they want] to close it. We are talking about, is it a complete series? Is this a limited special? Is it a movie? What is it? There is a discussion around the form that best serves creation, and she wanted to spend the summer thinking about creation, and then we will meet in September to discuss it, "said Salke.
