According to the police, at least five people, including three infants, were stabbed in a Queens daycare center at night by a 52-year-old woman.
The age of infants, two girls and a boy, was not clear, but one of the girls is in serious condition, according to police. Two other people, a father of a daycare child and another woman who worked there, were also stabbed just before 4 am Friday. We expect everyone to survive.
According to the police, the 52-year-old woman was found in the basement of Flushing Day Care at 161st Street. She is in custody in a hospital in the area.
The father who was injured was stabbed in the leg; it was not clear if her child was one of the stabbed infants.
No reasons have been determined. It was not known immediately if the daycare was allowed.
A video of the scene showed a strong police presence, with dozens of vehicles and law enforcement officers invading the scene.
