Lucky's Market continues to bring its fancy shopping experience to Central Florida.
Colorado's natural food grocery store will open two stores Oct. 10: 7580 University Blvd. Winter Park and Hunter's Creek Plaza at 4169, boul. downtown. in Orlando. Other stores are being prepared for other locations, including the south of downtown Orlando.
If you've never been to a Lucky's Market, I've put together a list of five things to expect when you visit the Winter Park spot.
1. Prepare to explore the products section
Approximately 3,000 square feet of space abounds with 350 types of products, most of which are organic. A juice bar, a range of freshly cut fruits and vegetables and pre-cut bulk products priced at $ 2.99 per pound are also available in this region.
2. Local items are highlighted
Look for a "Local" label on meals from businesses in the southeastern United States – many come from Florida.
The selected items also include a small sign indicating the distance traveled by a grocery item. I saw one on Carla's True Southern BBQ, based in Deerfield Beach, coming from a headquarters located 300 km from Winter Park.
3. They take their proteins seriously
Hang on pre-packaged meats or opt for something special at the meat counter. "Never" meats (or dishes that have never been treated with antibiotics or artificial growth hormones) are available from the store's butcher.
Several types of bacon are smoked on site. During my visit, I spotted pepper bacon, an original ordinary version, and honey-orange bacon. Sausages are also prepared at Lucky's. Look for seasonal options such as turkey and cranberry links.
Lucky's offers quality dishes, or $ 10 cooked meals, including protein, vegetables and even seasonings. You can also opt for something in the prepared dishes section, such as a chicken curry salad.
4. Come hungry
In addition to the delicacies, Lucky's offers a bespoke sushi bar and ramen, a pizza restaurant, a hot breakfast and lunch bar, a salad bar, an olive bar and a juice bar.
5. … and come thirsty
Have a beer for $ 2 or a glass of wine for $ 3 to sip while strolling through the store.
