Rarely will you see the opening moments of an episode of Monday Night Raw.
WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns came to open the show and announced he'd been battling leukemia for 11 years. The crowd seemed stunned, but they would be left again when Reigns shared the fact that the disease had come back. This was real life and not some edgy storyline. The merciless booing of Reigns stopped and uncomfortable dose of reality.
Quite honestly, and without shame, I had tears in my eyes and I felt in my chest. Having lost so many family members to the disease, any reference to a form of cancer keys a nerve. I have had an opportunity to meet a couple of occasions, and sharing a space with a person makes this type of news a little more impacting.
The announcement video exploded immediately after it was released. It garnered more than 26,000 views in the first 15 minutes after it was posted.
If we've learned nothing else in the past years, it's going to be theirs. In the final match, Dean Ambrose finally turned on Seth Rollins. The real-life news of Reigns' illness was used to add impact to the storyline Michael Cole yelled, "no, not on this night."
I saw him coming to the end of his life before the end of his life.

Drew McIntyre was busy with Braun Strowman who had come to the ring to seek revenge after an earlier attack. That left Dolph Ziggler in the band vulnerable Rollins and Ambrose. rollins hit the Curb Stomp and Ambrose awoke the referee who had been knocked out during the melee.
The pin was secured, Rollins and Ambrose were tag-team champions, and the turn was set up perfectly.
In all honesty, it felt a little dirty and inappropriate, but there is no questioning the response of the crowd and those online. Reigns is very familiar with the business and would not be a bad idea for the future.
The Ambrose has been teased for weeks. Reigns' announcement diverted the attention away from the storyline, but it appears the WWE not only stuck to the script, they also used real life to color the narrative.
Universal Title Will Be Determined at Crown Jewel
Because of Reigns' situation, the battle is a triple-Threat Match at Crown Jewel pay-per-view will be a singles match between Braun Strowman and Brock Lesnar for the vacant title.

Elias' Face Turn
Did Elias turn with one timely swing of his guitar? The singing Superstar has seemingly been gaining positive reaction with every appearance. Even though he is doing a good job on the local sports team every day he takes the ring, he's so good on the mic, the crowd can not help but eat out of his hands.
Baron Corbin has been one of the easiest Superstars to dislike these days, so having Elias club with him is a perfect way to turn him face. We'll see if this switch sticks next week. It will certainly be unlikely Corbin will ignore the blindsided attack.
Ronda Rousey Seems To Be Protected From Harsh UFC Insults
Last week, Ronda Rousey got personal with Nikki Bella during her mic session. Rousey made mention of Bella's relationship with John Cena and their breakup. This week, the contract signing for their match at WWE Evolution on Sunday went through some pretty dry mic work.
This was the week when the Bellas could have mentioned Rousey's UFC failures-specifically-they did not go as hard Rousey did the week before. Instead, they talked about the insult. It seems Rousey is not getting you burned.
Is a specific mention of Rousey 's KO' s losses to Holly Holm and Amanda 's Nuns too much for her character to endure? Probably not, but the approach seems a little too cautious.
Drew McIntyre's Big Leap
There is no question McIntyre is on the way up and fast. Dropping the tag-team is no longer relevant to this status at this point. He's about to be embroiled in a feud with Strowman, which could mean he'll find himself in title contention. Strowman should defeat Lesnar at Crown Jewel and that should lead to McIntyre getting his first shot at the WWE Universal title at the end of the year, or the beginning of 2019.
