It's hard to believe that this is only the second week of competition on "Dance with the stars" because the caliber of performance and technique we are getting is far beyond what we normally see at this stage.
What is amazing is that virtually everyone has improved their game significantly compared to last week and no one has had a really bad performance. And with a dozen stars still in contention, this can be unprecedented.
Last week's leaders, Tinashe and DeMarcus Ware, continue to be strong, but they have been joined by no less than four other stars who have reached the same level of excellence. We had complicated climbs from both male and female stars, and even the feared quick did not turn out to be any real threat.
It's there that everyone is wondering what's wrong with Senior Judge Len Goodman, because even though he does not find much to complain about, including "Grocery Store Joe". The star of the franchise "Bachelor" was an absolute disaster last week, bringing the lowest score and skating only by votes of viewers. But this week, it really looked like a real Dancer over there.
And, funny thing, rookie professional dancer Brandon Armstrong is really racing for the Mirrorball Trophy in his inaugural season. Spoiler Alert: Yes, it's early, but he's really lucky enough to play with the talented charismatic and talented Tinashe on his arm.
Who do I think I am? you ask. Well, I spent almost a decade of my life sweating and bleeding to the sound of music as a dancer. From a young boy learning to change randomly by playing with the St. Louis Ballet Company, I have experienced the ups and downs of one of the most physically challenging sports on the planet. During that time, I was also a member of the St. Louis Youth Symphony Orchestra, as well as gymnast, writer and draftsman. I had a lot more energy in my youth. And I've spent the last sixteen years analyzing and critiquing reality TV shows for various media publications. I have that.
Be careful, since I'm safe at home, I'll probably be a little harder than my colleagues Carrie-Ann Inaba, Len Goodman, and Bruno Tonioli. But I could be nicer too. May be.
DeMarcus Ware and Lindsay Arnold
First of all, what a fun piece. DeMarcus was working hard, but we could see that he was having fun bringing this beautiful story to life. The choreography was pretty rudimentary for a foxtrot, but it made things easier for DeMarcus, who was trying to show a softer side after last week's high marks. He did not succeed as well because he could not match Lindsay's energy or commitment levels, but he was successful every step and remained fit. If this does not make him completely comfortable yet, it will be exciting to watch.

Danelle Umstead and Artem Chigvintsev
Artem kept it slow and steady for Danelle, who clearly had trouble remembering the routine. After a misstep once they reached the ground floor, she got her feet in the back, but that was pretty much the only part of her that was engaged in dance. Maybe a week will not be enough for Danelle to master these dances with her physical limitation (blindness), but she really went out and gave it all. It seemed a lot like you see children doing it learn – without hip action – but it was recognizable as cha cha. If she stays long enough to build muscle memory with these basic techniques and steps, she may be able to become a dancer who will carry us away.

John Schneider and Emma Slater
He did not quite understand Charleston's classic footwork and slipped during the tandems, but John is a natural showman and it's a pity that he did not learn the dances earlier in his career. It would have been a real threat for Broadway. His charisma and grace on stage almost overcome the technical difficulties he had here and there throughout this play. He also kept his car a little too upright during some of the items that wanted more than a lean forward. But the important thing is that he gave us the charm of dance, his mind and that it is absolutely fun to watch.

Nancy McKeon and Val Chmerkovskiy
It was a cha cha cha much more confident than the quickstep of last week. Nancy seemed to have really enjoyed playing this one and she brought a lot of personality to the scene, as well as a certain sensuality in her movements. There was a liquid quality to his hips that really fit in the style, even though his feet whipped very slightly here and there. This week, however, you can see that Nancy could really become something special to watch on this show.

Alexis Ren and Alan Bersten
Alan's attack with this choreography was breathtaking, and Alexis was very good at giving everything to him. The opening of the ballet was not so successful and the transition to the Argentine tango did not fully work, but once we got in, Alexis fully engaged in all these steps during these ups and downs. She was a little over-calculated, lacking the sizzle and torch she needed to really sell those moments, but it's impressive, she did it so well during the second week and says it all about his situation as an interpreter. His dance background no matter how long there was, certainly help him now.

Joe Amabile and Jenna Johnson
Jenna did her best to protect Joe in his foxtrot choreography, but he may not have needed it. Joe was introduced this week in a way that we had not seen at all during the premiere. He had a good up and down movement in about half of the dance and he was there as a partner for her. There was a sequence where he seemed to be walking on stage rather than dancing, and Jenna used it a few times as a stand, but all of his extra work paid off. He was a little over excited with this elevator, but it turned out well. Maybe Joe can prove that he is worthy of staying after all.

Tinashe and Brandon Armstrong
Brandon was really trying to show how much he had already been a partner of a dancer during the second week. They had incorporated four elevators into this Argentine tango and the first two were absolutely sensational. These last two seemed to have been slightly under-repeated, but still ultimately successful. Even better was the footwork, sizzling and grinding throughout the rest of the routine. Tinashe is a firecracker on the stage. His footwork and body placement were perfect. It was good to dance for any week of the competition, but for the second week, it's crazy.

Milo Manheim & Witney Carson
Watch Milo, learn how to make lifts throughout this Charleston. In addition to that, his footwork was mostly where it was needed, and with these giant white sneakers, there was no hiding place. It was a very energetic piece where Witney really pushed him creatively. There was a story, pictures, and fun moments, but Milo was right on one point. It was exhausting to watch, let alone what they experienced to bring life to such a contagious and joyous play.

Mary Lou Retton and Sasha Farber
It was an absolutely amazing waltz from start to finish, accompanied by Sarah Bockel ("Beautiful: The Carole King Musical") singing "Natural Woman". Mary Lou's arms and even hands were exquisite, and her movements were so gracefully graceful. Once again, it's crazy that it's only week 2 and these competitors are coming out with such confidence. This last movement of rotation was hypnotizing and perfectly executed, but so much of the dance was. His waltz content was magnificent, his car, his balance, his control. It was everything.

Juan Pablo Di Pace and Cheryl Burke
Did Juan Pablo slip from Charleston in this brisk walk just for? It was a very confident performance of a very demanding dance style that requires discipline and careful placement of the feet at all times, otherwise the pace can be dangerously off-beat and quickly uncontrollable. Juan Pablo is attacked at all obstacles and did it week 2 – broke the time record – with such confidence and such mastery is absolutely stunning. Also, her grip was sometimes unstable, but her posture was what she needed to be and it was a minor part of a potentially overwhelming style. Juan Pablo gave a superior performance to everything technical

Evanna Lynch & Keo Motsepe
Evanna has definitely opted for more panache and panache than last week, bringing some sexuality to this samba. She really had a hip action going on, although you could still see that it was not really comfortable for her. But her footwork was nice and, although she could not compete with Keo's energy or commitment to taking these steps with the right move, she accompanied him at every stage, showing continued growth and a willingness to pursue it. show likes dancers who grow up and learn on the way.

Bobby Bones and Sharna Burgess
Once again, Bobby was a bubble of energy barely contained, but she did not suit the foxtrot at all. He was a little too tall, too broad and jerky throughout this routine, as he was waiting to go out. Perhaps he was thinking about his impromptu conclusion with The Floss (made famous by Katy Perry's "Backpack Kid"). We do not know if Sharna will be able to channel her energy properly, but if she can, he has the potential to be a solid dancer and performer. He simply can not interpret every style with his wide-eyed, jaw-apart approach, as he was about to challenge Len to a breakdance competition.

"Dancing With the Stars" takes place on Mondays and Tuesdays at 8pm. AND for his first two weeks, before returning to his usual domination of Monday. Sunday episodes of "Dancing With the Stars: Juniors" will join him for fun parties from October 7 at 8pm. .ET on ABC.
