DES MOINES, Iowa – No one has won the latest Mammoth Powerball award. The estimated jackpot now amounts to at least three-quarters of a billion dollars, or $ 750 million, the fourth-largest lottery jackpot in American history.
The next Powerball draw will take place on Saturday night.
Wednesday night's $ 620 million jackpot on the Powerball seemed almost puny, given all the attention paid to the $ 1.537 billion jackpot won in South Carolina on Tuesday.
Only three jackpot jackpots have been larger than this Powerball, but with two gigantic prizes in one week, it's hard not to compare.
Nobody has won the Powerball jackpot since August 11, when a man from the borough of Staten Island in New York won $ 245.6 million.
Powerball's figures from the Wednesday night draw were 3, 21, 45, 53, 56 and Powerball 22.
Powerball tickets cost $ 2 per coin and are sold in 44 states.
Chances of winning
The odds of winning a jackpot – at best abyssal – are actually better for Powerball than for Mega Millions: 1 on 292.2 million for Powerball and 1 on 302.5 million for Mega Millions.

The people of Massachusetts have the greatest taste for playing odds, spending close to $ 763 a year in lottery tickets, according to the study. The North Dakota are at the other end of the spectrum and spend about $ 44 a year on the lottery.
