Tired of the same old Thanksgiving turkey roasted in the oven until the skin turns a beautiful golden color?

Even the popular recipes of fried turkey have run their course.

If you really want to spice up the holidays, take a look at these totally exaggerated turkey recipes. No one will forget Thanksgiving dinner at home this year if the bird is covered in glitter or edible pickles!

1. Turkey Glitter

You want turkey with a real spice? Look no further than this sparkling Reynolds Wrap recipe.

It's all about making edible glitter (yes, it's possible!) By using items purchased at a craft store. Once the flakes are ready, simply sprinkle them on the turkey after basting with oil.

Try it before serving to let the glitter come on and ta-da!

2. Pickled turkey

This original recipe from TODAY Food gives a super tasty turkey by soaking it in a dill brine overnight. Add jalapeno pepper, habanero or any other chilli of your choice chopped to the brine and choose the juice of pickling gherkins.

The brine also contains garlic, black pepper, mustard seeds, celery seeds and dill seeds.

3. Hot turkey cheetos

Hot Cheetos make their way in everything from ice cream to macaroons to cheese and nacho. Now there is a way to use them on Thanksgiving turkeys. Pilgrims are probably pretty jealous of it.

Reynolds Wrap has the recipe for a "Hot Turkey" that involves crushing a snack such as Cheetos (the spicy Doritos would also work) in a food processor, then coating the turkey in crumbs after basting butter and of oil the birds.

4. Bacon Wrapped Turkey

Do you have a family that loves bacon on everything? Try this bird wrapped in bacon! The bacon fat helps keep the meat moist and also gives a deliciously smoky and salty flavor.

The recipe calls for trellis from strips of bacon, then weave the turkey before roasting. With its slices of bacon intertwined, this turkey is as pretty as it is delicious.

Do you want a citrus flavor for turkey? Use your favorite citrus soda in the brine. For this recipe, you just need to mix equal parts of the soda and water, as well as 1/4 cup of kosher salt for every liter of liquid added.

Then let the turkey soak in brine overnight before cooking the next day. It will be slightly sweet, a little spicy and totally tempting.

Do you like Cajun spices? Try it on a turkey this Thanksgiving. This version shows uses classic seasoning with paprika, thyme with oregano, garlic powder and cayenne pepper for a kick. It's not completely far-fetched (after all Popeye offers a special Thanksgiving turkey offer every year), but it's really delicious.

Simply add 2 pounds of melted butter to the seasoning, pour it over the turkey and gently massage against the skin before roasting it.

7. Roast turkey with bison

Do you have fans of Buffalo wings? They might like the same game day flavor on their Thanksgiving turkey.

This recipe from the Doughmesstic blog creates a buffalo aroma first in brine, which contains beer with various spices, then in rubbing with chili powder and cayenne pepper and finally in the injection spicy sauce, butter and lemon.

Food blogger Susan Moss writes, "This little heat from spices is something that is rarely found in a turkey and this kick has made this juicy bird unique and delicious."
