A sloppy episode of Monday Night Raw meant that SmackDown would not take much effort to beat the quality of the flagship show this week. They did it, but last night the criteria of the Blue Team were clearly reduced. WWE set foot in the back end before Thursday's Thanksgiving holiday.

While it would have been great to see SmackDown go out of their way with a great episode after recording 1-6 (f * ck kayfabe, the Kickoff Show account) at Survivor Series, that's not what we got . These two hours have been difficult. Loaded with loads, clumsy action and incoherent narratives, they represent a huge step forward compared to the near-perfect episode of last week, even though we're confident that it's not going to happen. 39 is only an anomaly.

A number of the biggest names in SmackDown were missing. Nevertheless, we had a great evening of Charlotte Flair, who explained her ruthless assault on Ronda Rousey, and then struggled two consecutive games in the half-hour opening. The WWE Champion was also at home, introducing the world to the new Daniel Bryan, while his former rival, The Miz, was starting something new with Shane McMahon.

A disappointing evening, especially after last week's barn woodcutter. Let's break it down …
