The Philadelphia 76ers apologized on Saturday for offensive tweets created by a Twitter account on an engraver run by Sixers' father Mike Muscala.
According to Kyle Neubeck of PhillyVoice, The 76ers general manager, Elton Brand, issued the following statement on this:
"Earlier in the day, I was made aware of inappropriate and offensive messages posted on social media by Bob Muscala, Mike Muscala's father, which means they are unacceptable and do not reflect the beliefs of our organization. .
"Knowing Mike since his rookie season in 2013-14 when we were teammates, I am also convinced that these publications do not reflect his personal belief.Mike has always been an excellent teammate and basketball ambassador. hesitated to use his platform to do good in the community, he has the full support of our organization.
"This situation is also a reminder to our players, coaches and staff of the potential impact, both positive and negative, of social media.We will use this situation to re-examine, monitor and discuss the appropriate use of media in all areas of our sector.
Muscala also apologized for the messages posted by his father, Bob Muscala:
"First of all, I want to apologize for my father's offensive social media commentary, his comments were inappropriate and inappropriate, and they do not reflect who I am.
"I would also like to apologize to the 76ers and my NBA colleagues for the distraction caused by my father's comments.
"I really appreciate the professionalism and support shown by Elton, coach [Brett] Brown, my teammates and all 76ers organization. "
A source confirmed to Neubeck and ESPN that a Twitter account using the pseudonym "MuskieBobber" was managed by the father of Muscala. The account has since been deleted.
The offensive tweets in question referred to swingman All-Star Jimmy Butler and the Minnesota Timberwolves.
In response to an article about Butler's recent return to the T-Wolves practice during which he would have created a scene, the report tweeted: "Butler's behavior is not a" dust ". Is an Egyptian, African-American mental illness. "

The Timberwolves are coached by former Chicago Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau, and have four former Bulls players in Butler, Taj Gibson, Derrick Rose and Luol Deng.
Mike Muscala is from Minnesota and is expected to play his first season in Philadelphia after spending the first five seasons of his career with the Atlanta Hawks.
This is not the first time the Sixers are involved in a scandal involving engraver accounts. In June, Bryan Colangelo, former managing director of the Sixers, was fired.
The 76ers hired Brand to replace Colangelo last month.
