SEATTLE – With regard to the biggest match of the Yankees of the season, nothing is certain.
Manager Aaron Boone has a ton of decisions to make before his team accepts (most likely) the A's in the American League Wild League card game.
Who will be his starting pitcher? Will it be the choice of last year, the dreaded Luis Severino? Maybe Masahiro Tanaka, who played so well in the second half? Or newcomer J.A. Happ, a 35-year-old man who has a proven track record?
Who is his starting catcher? Probably Gary Sanchez, but an argument could be advanced for his backup.
How much does it depend on the Yankees starting Oakland launcher?
And what to say … well, let's move on to the set below.
New York Yankees v Seattle Mariners

Who is on the mound?
Superior option: Masahiro Tanaka | Tanaka has also been very good recently. Friday, it seemed incredible, blocking Seattle in eight unmarked heats, eliminating 10 hitter. Entering Friday, he was 3-3 with an average of 2.63 points in his previous nine starts. His ERA season had dropped from 4.68 to 3.83 during the period. He was also very good in the playoffs last year and he started the 2015 Wild Card defeat against the Astros.
Second option: J.A. Happ | Since joining the Blue Jays Yankees before the trade deadline, Happ is 5-0 with an ERA of 3.10 in seven starts, including a clunker. A 35-year-old veteran, Happ, who also competed at the 2009 World Series, will not be afraid of the big stage.
Third option: Luis Severino | Severino could very easily come back to first place with a dominant showing next time. Or he could just be very good the rest of the month. Severino had an ERA of 6.83 in his last 11 starts and he exploded in Oakland Wednesday for five points in two runs and two-thirds, as he seemed to have gained ground. Do not forget that he was tattooed in last year's Wild Card Game, and that it only took one before the Yankees started the rest of the game.
